Not On My Watch!

Not On My Watch!

Psalm 11:3   If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do?

I had never been to Connecticut, The Constitution State, until I was invited there to speak last November.  I hopped on a plane, flew into Hartford, and took a one hour drive south to the small town of Bethel.

Driving lazily south on I 84, I nearly flew out of my seat as I read the sign jutting out over the highway directing us towards I 84 East to Danbury.

Danbury?”  I half-squealed to my host.  “I didn’t know we were going to Danbury.”

“Sure Coach, Bethel is a suburb of Danbury.”  He replied

I felt goose bumps go down my spine.

“Bob, do you know what happened in Danbury?”  I asked, not really waiting for a response.  Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists….the separation of church and state…it began right here.”   The goose bumps took another ride from my cranium to my coccyx.

“Wow, Bob, I had no idea….God has called me to Danbury!”

That is how it started.  The first president Bush called it “the vision thing”.  From that day in November 2005, I have focused on that call in my heart.

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Today, I’d like to share my vision with you.  I pray an attack of the goose bumps comes your way.

On April 18th, the 231st anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride, we are going to Danbury, Connecticut and we would like you to come.

Without going into too much detail, suffice it to say that the doctrine of “separation of church and state” as practiced in America today is nothing more than a complete miss-application of what the Founders intended. The 1st amendment did indeed build a wall, but it was a one-way wall.  The wall was to keep government out of the church, it was never the founders’ intent to keep God out of government. Check your Constitution.  Separation of church and state appears nowhere in our founding documents.  Quite the contrary.  read history

In 1947, with Justice Hugo Black and the United States Supreme Court's Everson v. Board of Education decision planting the term separation of church and state, the first stitch was sewn into the lips of the church, and over the next 40 years the mouth of the pulpit was systematically muzzled.  One by one the stitches were laced:

  • Hugo Black gives us separation of Church and State   1947
  • Lyndon Johnson and the 501C3 muzzled the church.  1954
  • Prayer was removed from schools.    1962
  • Bible reading was halted in schools.  1963
  • Abortion legalized  1973
  • Ten Commandments removed from government property.  1980
  • Sodomy Legalized. 2000
  • Under God in the Pledge before our Courts. 2004
  • Bible criminalized….is that next?

God is not subservient to the government.  God is above the State.  It is the church’s responsibility to hold government accountable.  From 1947 to the present, as the voice of the church was silenced in regards to governmental policy, America has been in a moral free-fall.

The separation of God and state as currently practiced in America is the greatest lie ever foisted upon Americans in my lifetime.  I think it is time to set the record straight.

That is why we are going to Danbury.  We are returning to the scene of the crime.

I have made several return trips to Connecticut.  Most of the residents of Danbury are not aware of the historical significance of what happened there.  We have been on a mission to awaken the Christians of Danbury to the heinous lie that began in their quaint little town.

We began contacting government officials, local residents, and pastors trying to locate the original Danbury Baptist Church.  Everyone seemed to have an idea where it was, but no one knew for sure.  By chance we ended up in a small museum in Danbury where a studious–looking man gave us explicit directions to the sight.

We followed his directions, and in a matter of moments I had another attack of the goose bumps as I found myself standing in the middle of the original Danbury Baptists Church!  View the pictures of the church.  The foundation is still in place!

Isaiah 61:4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

Isaiah 58:12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

We are returning to Danbury, to the waste places, to the foundations of many generations, and we are going to repair the breach and restore the path.  Government can’t do it for us.  This is a job mandated by Scripture to the His people.  Won’t you stand with us?

"There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root," --Henry David Thoreau.

Will America change because of what we do in Danbury?  Not immediately.  Look how long it took for the seeds of humanism, secularism, and communism to germinate before we were able to see the fruits of what had been sown by Justice Black in 1947.  Now, nearly sixty years later, there is a bumper-crop over-flowing in the land.  Well I for one am tired of trimming the branches of evil.  It is time to take an axe to the root.

The root is in Danbury.  That’s where it all began.  That is where we must return.

Jeremiah 1:10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

It is time to root out the evil in this land.  We will take the Sword of the Word and chop off the lie at it’s root.  We will rebuild, and we will plant.  Danbury is the place where the seed was planted.  It is there we must chop the root.

This is not a protest.  This is a solemn assembly, a time of prayer and repentance.  Pastors and church leaders from around America will fall on our face on the foundation of that old Baptist Church. We will invite God back into America, we will repent of our cowardice, of allowing the god of government to be placed above Him, and we will declare that Christ IS Lord over America.

Pastors and church leaders all across America….please join us.

I Cor. 3:6-7  I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

The freedoms that we enjoy in this nation are a result of the faithful stewardship of Christian-patriots.  For two hundred years we ate from the fruits of their laborers. We are standing on their shoulders.   Now a poison crop is being harvested, from a rotten seed that was planted. It is our turn to plow.  If America is going to leave God, it will not be on my watch!

If you can’t come can you donate?  We anticipate expense of up to $5000 for the police, speakers, travel, publicity, permits, etc.  We are stepping out on Faith. Please donate.

Perhaps you could let us use some of your SKY MILES to fly in speakers!  donate miles

Please visit www.minutemenunited.com for more details regarding the program, housing, transportation, and the history.  We will continually update as information becomes available. Forward this to everyone on your email list!

Generations from now, America will mark this day, April 18, 2006, the anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride, as the day America returned to her roots.

Please pray for us!

I dont agree with your view on church and government. I personally am not phased by society and government that isnt supportive of christianity. We christians do not need the support or help of society or the government to practice our faith. Heck, even the bible says we hardly ever would have that. Christianity will always be unpopular, always be pissed on, torn apart, criticized, persecuted, and the like. I think the American Christians are some of the most pathetic Christians in the whole world. We cry like little babies when the non-believers in America resist the attempts of Christian Conservatives try to gain control of the government (i like to call that an evangelistic cop-out) and then we shout "persecution! injustice! God why have you abandoned us????" because we for some reason feel entitled to be free from persecution in this country. No wonder why this country is so morally and spiritually dead. If i were an atheist, i would look to the christians and see a bunch of wussy crybabies who try to force everyone to be christians so that we dont have to face persecution and hard times and the insecurity that we might be wrong, but we aren't wrong, and i can say that knowing fully well that others dont agree. I sure hope other christians can do that as well without having to legislatively convert every citizen to be able to do so
