“God sent a flood to kill everybody except for Noah and his family because the world was full of evil. God knows everything. The world is still full of evil after the flood and God, by definition, must have known that would be the case: but He killed everybody anyway, including children, babies, and pregnant women. How can you justify this?”
The difference between the godly and ungodly is that the godly (those who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit) will always justify God. The ungodly will try to justify man.
So let’s demonstrate the truth of the above statement. I am convinced from Scripture and from experience that man-kind (there’s an oxymoron) is intrinsically evil. For evidence, just watch the TV news tonight. He is born with an evil nature and goes astray from the moment he takes his first step (no parent has to restrain a child from being virtuous, but rather the opposite).
God, however, is perfect. He is without sin. He is absolute purity of holiness. He cannot have an evil thought or make an evil decision. The Bible tells us that all of His judgments are righteous and true altogether.
Let me now presume that you will attempt to justify man, by saying that he is basically good, and that God is the One who is evil. (I did notice that you said “the world is full of evil,” rather than man is full of evil--which would include yourself.) You therefore choose not to worship and serve a God that you consider to be a tyrant. That’s your choice, but know for certain that you will one day meet your “tyrant” Maker, stand before His absolute holiness, and be judged for the sins you have committed. If you refuse the incredible mercy that He offers in Christ, then you will be justly damned in Hell for eternity.
God, however, will not condemn you. Your sins will do that, in the same way that it’s not the judge who sends the wicked criminal to prison. His crimes send him there.

I always wondered why did God allow the people inhabiting the land God gave Israel to be overtaken.
Then I read in scripture the promises and warnings he gave to Israel the covenant and the land promised to them.
The abominations and sins they did in the land he warned Israel not to do the same or the land would spew them out and be cursed.
In his great mercy Israel spent 400yrs in Eygpt those lands did not change the sins and abominations in them after wandering in the wilderness G-d lead Israel to destroy the inhabitants.
I read in the book of Enoch, Noah preached 120 years to the people warning them of their destruction yet the people did not change.
I read in the book of Jasher the horrible, horrible things people did to the poor in Sodom and Gommorah or those that gave to the poor. Yet G-d would have been merciful unto that land if just 10righteous people where found in it.
We have written accounts of judgments,we've had numerous warnings from his servants,we've even been shown dreams of destruction ourself to this land, yet sin abounds here in America over 400 yrs old.
Nineveh repented at their warning from God of destruction and evil yet we've not done that as a country.
Even if a righteous man turns and does evil he will be condemned yet if an evil man turns and does good he will be forgiven.
As a child gets older and they start to understand more we discipline them more.
We've gotten older what shall our punishment be for it would be justice to us. Click here to reply to this post

Your coorespondant asked a justifiable question from his/her ignorance. If all (s)he sees is the bad side of an authority figure (s)he will naturally rebel. It is built into us. You know that I shouldn't have to point out the proof to you. Your comments given to a real person rather than the normal audiance here will result in nothing better than "Thats NOT Fair!!".
Your coorespondant doesn't know about Free Will or the trickery of Satan and the (what I see as) the love of Adam for Eve. Despite his failure to protect her from the serpent he chose to share her fate. Your coorespondant does not see the Love GOD displayed when HE (Knowing in advance that man would mess up) chose to put us here. GOD Also knows that a remnant of us will choose to follow GOD's laws voluntarily and GOD will fix us so we can. Nothing else makes sense - Our genetics are irreparable from a human POV. Far too detailed, far too many unknown variables and far too many unknown interactions.
But your coorespondant knows none of this. You didn't tell him/her. Your last paragraph gives her/him nothing to hang onto because (s)he has no idea where to start. His/her words prove that. I do and I still live my live despondantly because I can do nothing but accept what happens for I am NOT in control. Yes, I am still growing. I've tried to live a better life - Impossible. I've tried to improve my self - Impossible. All I can do is see what is written and tell GOD, "Go ahead and make it so in me for I can NOT." Our collective crimes have been forgiven but our minds are nto capable of comprehnding that fact. We need to try anyway not just tell our coorespondants that they need to accept what they have no knowledge of. Click here to reply to this post

Well stated Mr. Comfort. I'm tired of dealing with others out here who believe man is the source of morality, but cannot explain Nazi Germany, Communist Stalin, etc... We all need to recognize ourselves for who we are (myself definitely included) and appeal to the Lord for the grace he offers but we do not deserve. Click here to reply to this post

Today I was reading Arthur Pink's book "The Nature of God" and specifically the section on the wrath of God. I'm using this book to teach my ladies Sunday School class because I think many Christians don't know who God really is due to a lack of biblical teaching today.
I like you're point about godly people will always justify God and the ungodly justify man. I'm going to include that in our study.

It is great you are teaching about God himself! I wish I were in your ladies class for that reason alone. Good for you. However, the Scripture won't err about God, Pink can. Tozer and Pink are great, and worth studying, but examine Job. He blamed God for punishing him wrongly (see the first post verses). For His own purposes God met with Job, and corrected him. Clearly Job was godly and therefore the godly can blame God too. People are a confused mess, don't err by judging too quickly. Note that it was not those who were thought to be sinners that were rejected by Christ. Instead it was those who thought they were the good guys. Job's three friends defended God from Job. God forgave the friends for Job. Pink and Comfort can be wrong. Scripture cannot.
Keep teaching about God! Don't forget Isaiah 40-49. Click here to reply to this post

Should I put gullibility instead? Is amazing how you jump to the conclution of a good God just after the statment of His proven responsability of killing everyone (as proven as his goodness: just by the word of the mith collection called The Bible). You amuse me. I Like your childish smille. Click here to reply to this post
SATAN DESTROYED THE PEOPLE OF THE EARTH, NOT GOD

Man is redeemable, because if man rejects God, man does not know whom he rejects, or he does so in ignorance. So man can be redeemed by getting to know God later and when he comes to know God he can then love whom he now knows. The angels were in heaven with God and knew God. The angels that rejected God can not be redeemed, for they knew Him and did not love Him. They are never going to love God for they did not love His mercy and justice and never will. This enters into the reason God let the flood come upon the earth. Man was redeemable and God was patient with man even the ones who were rebelling from God for they may have been redeemed in the future if they come to know and then love God. But we are told in the Genesis 6:1 When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal ; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."- Notice is is written that when MEN began to increase THE SONS OF GOD married the daughters of MEN. God here shows a difference between men and the sons of God. Men could be called the sons of God also but God is using the term MEN for them. So the SONS OF GOD then must therefore be the fallen angels. These angels were unredeemable and we are told to be careful with who we have sex with for we make ourselves ONE WITH THEM. The women who married the demons then had unredeemable children and the women were also unredeemable. One could also make a strong argument that anyone who had sex with anyone down the line with anyone who had sex with a demon was unredeemable. When men rebel against God and practice free sex any disease spreads like a wildfire. The natural is a sign of the spiritual. So the spiritual disease spread just as a physical disease would. So God could see it would not be long until the whole earth was unredeemable. God in His mercy for us let the whole earth be destroyed, EXCEPT for the ones who were redeemable, which by that time was only eight people and the animals. God never chooses between mercy OR justice but He is always merciful AND just. God is his mercy let much of His beautiful creation be destroyed in order to show those who would come to choose life through The Lord Jesus Christ. So you see it was not only justice that motivated God in the flood but it was His Great Mercy. This is why the scriptures tell us that there are angels bound in chains for their disobedience. The fallen angels were forbidden to marry the women. But Satan did not care for them or anyone else who serves him. Satan tempted them to marry the women, in his plan to make it so no men could come to God. Satan destroyed all the men on the earth except for eight. It was not God who destroyed all the people of the earth, but it was Satan. This is why one of Satan's names is The Destroyer. Jesus is life and Satan is death. Go look at a body that has been dead for years and choose this day who you will serve. Life or death. I choose Life. Lou Click here to reply to this post
It is really the wrath of Satan, not of God

"He that believes in the Son has everlasting life: and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him." (John 3:36). This does not legitimize the “Wrath of God.” Quite the opposite. It is merely a statement of present tense fact. Those who reject the Son continue to abide under the hand of Satan. There is a passage in Revelation 12:7-11 where Satan is cast out of heaven which depicts wrath. But notice what Revelation 12:12 says: “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, HAVING GREAT WRATH, because he knows that he has a short time.” Jesus drank the cup of the “Wrath of God” for us at the Cross, and in so doing destroyed the power of the Devil. It was not his Father's wrath He drank and experienced. His words to the Father after drinking the cup were the anguish of separation from His Father; not anguish at the Father’s wrath on him. God is eternal. He dwells in a realm beyond time where there is no evil. Evil has never invaded that realm and never will. Rather, God invaded the corrupted evil realm with a view to resolving our corruption through redemption. Some people find it hard to reconcile Jesus, who is seen as good, with the Father who is seen as good only out of fear. But this is all wrong. God is One, and is Good, and God is only Good. GOD IS ONE

You have written well George. The church of in this nation is in great idolatry. How else could anyone explain the failure of the church in these days. However no one wants to admit to this sin but just point at the sin of another group or another person. One great area of this idolatry is the misunderstanding of the Trinity doctrine. The Athanasian Creed clearlt states that God appears as The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit BUT it also says God is NOT three but He is ONE. Puny human minds can not comprehend the omnipresence of God Almighty. He can be in heaven as The Father, and at the same time be here on earth as The Son and now is present as The Holy Spirit of The Lord Jesus. The scriptures bring this out clearly in Isaiah 9: For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.-- There is NOT ONE scripture that states that God is three.-- Satan did evil in the garden and tempted man to be disobedient and therefore separate himself from the eternal Spirit of God. This separation brought death for only in God is there life. It was then that the Jesus rode out on His white horse to conquer death to save us from our sin. 1I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come!" 2I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. Lou Click here to reply to this post

I appreciated your response to the question about how God could kill everyone in the flood. The holiness of God is tough for us to fully grasp. I especially appreciated your comment that "the godly (those who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit) will always justify God. The ungodly will try to justify man." I've never thought of it like that before. It makes a lot of sense. WB Click here to reply to this post

Reflecting on what they know

Always refreshing to read your work. I find some every simple statements that are latent with meaning. So, how true your statement is that the ungodly (or those that are perishing) will always try to bring a charge against God in the hopes that they may exonerate themselves. Why do they, in vain, think that justifying themselves in the eyes of men will, in any way, change reality? And why do it at all if they are a product of a godless universe? If God is not real, why charge a fictitious being with anything anyway? If death is the end of your existence, why do you care if you or your prodigy is evolving or devolving? The ungodly’s attempts to accuse God belies the fact that they know, down deep inside themselves, that they are accountable to him. Click here to reply to this post
