A friend of mine, who owns an air conditioning business, told me that he has been doing work for a local billionaire. When she called him and said that she needed his services, he immediately jumped into a helicopter and flew to the island on which she lives. Her problem? Her toast was getting cold because it was directly under the air conditioning. He suggested moving the toaster. She said to move the AC, so he did.
When she built a 40 million dollar home just north of Los Angeles, a tree was blocking her view of the sea. She liked the tree so she had the new house picked up and moved along a few feet. After doing that, she changed her mind and said to move the house back. They moved it back.
Before you accuse her of being eccentric and extravagant, remember that she is providing employment for a lot of people, including for my friend. There’s nothing wrong with having money or spending it. It’s not money the Bible condemns as the "root of all evil." It’s the love of money. Big difference.
Some people believe that money can’t buy happiness. I, for one, am not buying it. Who is happier--the poor man who slaves for every penny to try and feed his hungry family, or the rich fellow who not only feeds his kids, but provides them with a heated swimming pool, a good education, and the safety of a gated community? It seems that the biggest proponents of the money can’t buy happiness philosophy are those who don’t have it. And, by the way, you don't have to be rich to love money.

I can't remember where in scripture exactly it is I'll keep looking
Blessed are the poor for they shall be rich,
Blessed are the hungry for they shall be filled,
but woe unto those that are rich in this world for they shall be poor,
woe unto those that are filled in this world for they shall be hungry.
The time to come all the goodness and happiness they've experienced they will do without we shall not envy them for they shall experience loss too ultimately.
Remember Jesus's words to Rich man and Lazarus, Remember his parable about the man who filled his storehouse with wheat.
Did the rich man take pity upon Lazarus in his sufferings no the dogs had to comfort him while he begged for crumbs.
Did the man with the full storehouse share in his extra bounty with the poor and the helpless no he worried about building a new barn for his extra wealth.
The question is what have they've done with the weatlth they've been given. People affected by Jesus gave away some of their weatlh. The boy with the fishes and bread, the costly perfume women annointed him with, little Zaccheus in the tree, the followers of the gospel who sold their land to help other believers widows and orphans.
A Roman centurion that gave unto Jesus's people money for a synagogue received healing for his servant.
Be not of the world but be heavenly minded if the rich wish to inherit the kingdom of God. Click here to reply to this post
What on earth is the point of this?

This is the first article on this website to have ever made me truly angry.
Thanks, Ray, for standing up for "the big guy" who has it so gosh dern hard in this world and can't defend himself.
Had you stopped at saying that wealth itself isn't evil, I would have agreed with you, but what follows is simply the most heinous marriage of blatant American materialism and Christianity that I have ever seen. It's tantamount to saying about the poor, "Let them eat cake." I'm still cringing. Click here to reply to this post
