Is the church wrong and judgmental for claiming that abortion and homosexuality are sins and contending against them? Pastor Richard Mark Lee of the Family Church in Sugar Hill, Georgia thinks so. What did he do about it? He apologized to the unchurched for being judgmental during a highly publicized church service.
We think that Pastor Richard should also apologize on behalf of God for destroying the earth by flood because of men's wickedness, destroying Sodom and Gomorah, plaguing the Egyptians and killing their first born, destroying Korah and those who followed him, killing everyone in Jericho, and killing the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel for their false religion.

No, we should not judge: if we preach "Law to the proud; Grace to the humble" (you know: Way Of The Master style...biblically!), a person's own conscience will judge them. Do not get me wrong: there is a place for appologetics when it comes to taking issue with certain things in this world we live in but it should set at the FEET of the Gospel. If we but planted the seeds correctly, (ie..got out of our complacency and preached the Gospel and shared our faith with others) we might just find out what Jesus told us was really true: every action starts in the heart and that is what needs to be changed and only the GOSPEL can do that! What guy in the "church business" wouldn't like to come up with a novel way to drum up more business? I know where the church is, and have driven by it myself. The pastor sees all those cars going by everyday, and would like to get more through the door, no surprise there. Maybe his motives are pure, but it sounds like he'd be more comfortable as a Methodist (the open doors, open hearts, open minds club), definitely striving to be seeker friendly. The young pastor says we need to be more like Christ, and less judgmental. Ok, where did the Lord apologize for telling the truth? Did He say apologize to the world for preaching the gospel? Hardly, "Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Mat. 5:10 Are we to strive to be more righteous, or more tolerant? Is the young pastor willing to let unrepentant sinners join his church? Come one, come all, enjoy our bake sales, and our basketball courts. Seeker friendly just sounds so nice, everyone is welcome, we'll even apologize for offending any sinners. Maybe if he can get traffic diverted, and opens the doors wide enough he can divert the whole broad road through his church. Maybe he forgot about these verses "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Just WHO would have us to "be more careful" not to expose the truth behind ANY "seeker-friendly" (sin-tollerant) "church" (they actually want to be called a Christian Campus now, because the word "church" sounds mean). Go look closley at this "church" website. I hear the same evil hisssss from the same "apologist" that said: "Did God REALLY say that?" as he spoke to Eve in the garden and Jesus in the wilderness. I went to the website of this "church" and it is science fiction (1984 type) creepy. It has the feel of a bunch of zombies being given orders by the mad scientist ("Okay, now you worship...now you cry...now you laugh...we'll raise your children..."). Yes, any legalistic, judgemental, tradition-bound denominational group is dangerous and antichrist, but their obvious romance with demonic spirits reveals this "church" to be down-right bizzar! I am sorry for: allowing unbiblical preaching to come from the pulpits for the last 100 years or so; not preaching the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:26-27); doing the world a disservice by not using God's law to show sinners the reasonableness and justice of hell; the people on TV who, in the name of Christ, preach sugar-coated, watered down, man-centered messages and are afraid to talk about sin and are constantly asking for money; not engaging the culture and warning them about judgment. By the grace of God and because of people He has provided to teach me (Ray Comfort, Mark Cahill, Paul Washer, Brannon House, Todd Friel, Darrel Rundus, and many others), I am able to make up for the past. When clergy turn from Biblical truth, it usually follows a pattern of personal secret sins. Perhaps this "minister" is grappling with living a double life and so has to create a new worldview for him and his parishioners that will undermine any judgements that might be waged were his sins discovered.
I don't know this "minister" so cannot say, but I wouldn't be surprised if down the road we'll see his "Ted Haggard" moment. Click here to reply to this post

Calling people to repentance

Has anyone even listened to the sermon given by Pastor Richard Mark Lee? I have. You can listen to it online for yourselves. All of those who have cast judgment on a brother in Christ, especially an elder in a church, without even knowing what he actually said, are sinning.
This pastor has said many of things that are true of the Christian church in America. Christians tend to sit around and condemn the world and the behavior of those who are not saved instead of mourning over the fact that the lost are doing what is natural: sinning. This pastor has only stated that the way to change society it to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost instead of protesting wickedness. He is calling Christians to repent of their arrogance and pride and to humble themselves. He is calling people to be more like Christ by reaching out to the lost instead of condemning them.
Are we not in a spiritual battle? Are we not called to make disciples of the nations?
Are we called to cast condemning eyes on those who don’t know Christ? Are we called to scoff at sinners? No, we are not. That is pride my brothers and sisters.
Yes, this pastor has a typical seeker friendly service. I completely disagree with the way he conducts his worship service, but the message he gives is not what you think. Take the time to investigate for yourselves.
