I went tonight and saw Ben Stein's controversial and stimulating documentary on the issue of Intelligent Design (ID) vs. evolution called, "Expelled - No Intelligence Allowed." It is the most successful movie release of a documentary in the history of American film... bar none. It is well-researched, equitable, factual, enlightening, educational, and wonderfully entertaining. Mr. Stein is singlehandedly demonstrating in this documentary what the universities have neglected for years: freedom of speech and freedom of inquiry that is based upon logic, truth, and systematic discovery evidenced in the factual. No mental malnutrition or cognitive constipation here. I hope this is a portent of things to come. This film is a must see.
To wet your appetite, here is an interview that my friend Dr. R.C. Sproul conducted with Ben Stein a few months ago about his film. It is brilliant and captivating in the William Buckley, Jr. tradition. Favorite line of the interview is when Stein says to Sproul,"Holy cow, where did you learn all this stuff? You are very, very well educated... I am stunned! -You are very, very, very, very, very smart and well informed." Don't you love it when a great thinker, White House speechwriter, lawyer, humorist, educator, cultural commentator, writer, actor, and conservative advocate like Stein "discovers" one of ours representing the Christian faith isn't spiritually stuttering and is actually a gifted logician, thinker, writer, communicator, AND pastor/theologian too?
This is Sproul in his wheelhouse demonstrating apologetics 301 flawlessly. He posits the biblical worldview without sacrificing courtesy, logic, intelligence, or once compromising the faith.

...he is an inappropriate "instructor" for "Apologetics 301" with his Thomistic apologetic which denies that unbelievers, "although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened." Good Movie_Have Seen It - Troubled by Sproul

Steve Camp,
Thank you for presenting this informative interview. Expelled is a very good movie, I've seen it, and it has encouraged me personally to study material from Answers In Genesis. Yet there is one thing that is hugely troubling to me as a born again Christian where RC Sproul refers to Roman Catholicism as "The Church", doesn't he know better? I am a former and Never to be again Roman Catholic and by the grace of God know all too well that Roman Catholicism preaches and teaches a false gospel where the "baby jesus/eucharist" of the Roman Catholic Church is unable to save completely and forever those who would repent of their sins and believe in "him" for eternal life but must have the help of "his" mother (a demonic inpersonation) to get people out of purgatory. To acknowledge God as our Creator is great but to betray Him by giving any credibility to this heartbreakingly blasphemous and false "Church" sabotages the faith of the poeple of God just on a different level than Darwin. A Christian review from a Biblical perspective

Thank you so much for your review of 'Expelled'. I saw the movie this weekend and thought it was such a blessing to our post-modern culture that is bent on framing 'truth' with its own godless agenda.
I wanted to see what the reviews were saying about the movie. A quick internet search revealed what I expected - mockery and anger from the biased media. However, 'Christianity Today' had their own say as well, framed by the politically correct, non-offensive gospel based on dalmation theology - pick a spot you like from the Scriptures and believe it - the rest of the Bible is irrelevant.
Thank you for a forum where people can hear Bible-based perspectives. Click here to reply to this post
Probably not typical treatment of ID proponents

Although the examples of mistreatment of ID proponents are real, the idea that all or most ID proponents have been similarly mistreated is certainly not true. I have been an online proponent of design since 1997 (www.godandscience.org), and still publish in the scientific literature. My employer has never made an issue of anything I do outside of my academic pursuit. Of course, there are some radical atheists who want nothing more than to wipe out all religion. Fortunately, they have no political power! Click here to reply to this post
The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God

The theory of evolution is built on extremely weak scientific evidence, and is touted mainly for the purpose of refuting the Biblical account of creation. God breathed everything into existence and He is still breathing. "God that made the world and all things therein." (Acts 17:24a). "And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation." (Acts 17:26). "For in Him we live, and move, and have our being." (Acts 17:28a). Nothing exists without God. Evolution theories are political contrivances to further the worldly agenda of those who refuse to acknowledge that God is in control. Evolution theory is most readily accepted by those who wish to have earthly dominance over their brothers and sisters. George Cancilla Click here to reply to this post
OBJECTS AT REST TEND TO STAY AT REST UNLESS ACTED UPON BY AN OUTSIDE FORCE

Steve thanks for the video. R. C. Sproul is definitely brilliant. But the stupidity of so many people who say the universe came about by chance make men who say otherwise and can back their belief up with logic look really smart. I really like the definition of CHANCE: it is a magic word to take the place of ignorance. NEWTONS 1ST LAW: Objects at rest tend to stay at rest unless acted upon by AN OUTSIDE FORCE. Any physicist believes this law. If all the matter and energy of the universe was concentrated in a point for all time back into infinity. What held this mass and energy in place. It was in that state until just a few billion years ago. Then how did this mindless energy all at once explode into the universe as we know it in the big bang. How was it in a point or at rest for all time up till a few billion years ago then all of a sudden explode. What made it explode. It was at rest. IT HAD TO BE ACTED UPON BY A OUTSIDE FORCE.
