Rob Bell referred to the Dalai Lama as “His Holiness” today in Seattle. As one who outrightly rejects the message that Jesus proclaimed, “I am the way, the truth and the life—No man comes to the Father but by me,” the Dalai Lama is unregenerate and leading millions to hell. None of his good works in trying to bring peace and freedom to Tibet will ultimately earn him anything in God’s final Court of no appeal. Only the righteousness of Christ, received by faith, will be worth anything in God’s sight.
The Pope is also not my “Holy Father”. I have one Holy Father and He is Almighty God. When man-conferred titles contradict Scripture, we cannot use them. It is also a deep affront to the Lord Jesus Christ. How did the Apostle Paul refer to those who teach another gospel and not the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

In Greek, in which the New Testament was written, the repetition of something is intended to show great emphasis. This is how strongly the Apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, felt about false teachers. Rob Bell chose to please men, not God in Seattle today. The blood of Christ, the cross of Jesus, the atonement for sin, all of it was missing from Bell’s answers. This was no Apostle Paul on Mars Hill. Paul fearlessly preached the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Bell did nothing of the kind. In fact, his message dovetailed absolutely perfectly with the New Spirituality promoted by the event. The emerging church leadership is fully on board the New Age thought train, and those with ears to hear will get off while God is still allowing warnings to go out.

I am saddened that so many people are personally attacking Rob Bell and his reference to the Dalia Lama as His Holiness. Do any of you try to reach people where they are at or do you take refuge in the walls of your Christian Cultural Monasticism?
It is not necessary for us to say who is and is not going to hell but it is our amazing blessing and joy to show people the love of Christ and walking alongside them and engaging them in relationship with Christ!
There seems to be a lot of division and petty arguments going on here and it would be so AMAZING to see that time effort and energy being spent being the body of Christ and loving people. Click here to reply to this post

The Holy Spirit said we should be all things to all people to be able to reach some for Jesus Christ. But Jesus also said call no man even teacher or father yet alone "His Holiness". There is only One who is righteous and that is The Lord Jesus Christ and He is HIS HOLINESS and no other deserves this title but Him. To call a mere man "His Holiness" is sin dear friend, yet alone a mere man who denies that Jesus is God in the flesh and died for his sins and instead preaches against the Lord of Glory. Certainly "Sir" would have been appropriate for Sir is a sign of respect but does not put someone above others. The Holy Scriptures tell us to honor our father. Bell has a father and he dishonored him by putting the Dali Lama above his own father when he put this mere man above his own father. Does Bell address his father as "His Holiness". Rob Bell has fulfilled the absolute definition of heresy by calling the man known as the "Dalai Lama" "his holiness", the leader of a religious sect that is direct opposition to the Truth of the Bible. There is only one way, one truth and one life and that is Y'Shua, Jesus, the Messiah. To say anyone else is holy other than God is to call Yahweh and Yeshua a liar This is defined as ANT-Christ and apostate. Congratulations Rob Bell, you have now completely rejected Jesus publicly and He, Jesus, will reject you, Rob Bell, before the Yahweh on Judgment Day (unless, by a miracle only Yahweh can perform, you repent).

First of all, Rob Bell gives me the creeps every time he opens his mouth. Calling the Dalai Lama "his holliness" is like referring to Hitler, Stalin, or Pol Pot as a sacred religious icon.
