A Dirty Double Standard

Posted: 04/16/2008

A Dirty Double Standard

When a sixteen year-old girl supposedly called authorities from a religious sect in Texas and said that she had been sexually abused, a small army was sent and over 400 children were taken from the compound. So, it’s clear that America feels strongly about the sexual abuse of children. Explain then why Roman Catholic bishops and cardinals, who were accused of covering up sex scandals within the church or abusing children themselves, were not prosecuted. Not a single one of the 19 accused bishops lost his title or was prosecuted. They weren’t even given a rap over the knuckles, something it seems that most Catholic kids have felt from nasty nuns. The pope simply paid off the folks with a couple of billion dollars.

There is a double tragedy with this double standard. The media loves to call the Roman Catholic church “Christian,” when its official doctrines of justification by works flies in the face of the Bible. If the difference between Catholic and Christian isn’t made clear, I can understand why so many out rightly reject what they believe is "Christianity." The great lose will be theirs, because they are throwing out the baby of everlasting life with the very dirty bathwater of religious hypocrisy.

Amen!

Amen! The Anti-Christ (whom is not necessarily a single person, per se) lurks in lots of places and in lots of periods of history--Was it me or did I notice a considerable lack of number of little boys in the number of those children "rescued"? What happened to the rest of the little boys? Were they victims of infanticide or are they still in hiding somewhere or did I just not see them because of chance camera angle reporting? As for the accused, what with the chaotic way their home life must have been, jail might just seem a resort vacation, so I think we're hearing crocodile tears.

I hardly think the standard is the same...

Listen, I cannot cotton anyone being a polygamist, and if children are being abused then we should definitely investigate. But what about the ABUSE of ripping these children from the arms of their mothers and fathers???? Clearly Mormonism is anti-Christ, heresy in the highest degree, but that is NO JUSTIFICATION for the crime our government is perpetrating against these families. There is no reason you cannot investigate WHOLE families. The catholic church is another matter and to that I bow to Ray's evaluation. Clearly we have a serious difference of opinion with anyone who tries to say Catholicism is Christianity. Idolatry is a very dangerous game to play with one's own soul. "One might conclude that they are infallible in being wrong.", was John MacArthur's comments concerning Catholic dogma in his audio teaching clarifying Christianity's historical stance on Catholicism and the Papacy, as recorded in "Unmasking the Pope and the Catholic System", by John MacArthur, © 2005-2007. Another Gospel, a different spirit, another Jesus!

No one has been put in jail yet, however Ray is certainly correct in his observation that the civil authorities have been much more aggressive with the LDS's versus the Romanist's. Rome certainly has more worldy/global power and influence. As I write this today I hear on the news that the pontiff is meeting with Pres. Bush. The pontiff reports that he is ashamed of the sex abuse scandal that has rocked the Roman Church. He vows that pedophiles will no longer be admitted to the priesthood. This is as it should be. The question needed to be answered is how many of these predator priests were pedophiles when they entered the seminary and how many are now pedophiles/deviants as a result of being in the seminary. I suspect the later may be the greater in number. Could this be judgment for changing the truth of God into a lie(Romans 1:22-32)?

The Bible says that forbidding marriage is a doctrine of demons. The RCC is reaping what it has sown. Unfortunatley the reaping has included the sexual of abuse of children. How can anyone investigate the rotten fruit of the RCC and still believe that it is from God?

Mistaken - twice

The previous post about noone being arrested in Texas for what has happened. I do beg to differ. The leader of the cult has been and there has been one more man arrested lastweek in connection with the cult. The article was wonderful...and very true. It hurts to see people fireback and say how Christianity is corrupted because of the few denominations that taint it.

But Brother Ray, no one has gone to jail in Texas either, so the standard -- if you can call it that -- is the same.

You say the standard is the same. I missed the part where the the police stormed any catholic Church and took children out and placed them under other care. The leader of this Texas cult is in jail. What Catholic leader went to jail. Ray is right, there is a double standard. the pope said the other day how the sexual abuse of children was a shame. Well the shame is on him, because he is the leader of the catholic church and he not fired anyone or handed anyone over to authorities to be tried. Lou
