My 'mild' opposition to Condi Rice for VP

My 'mild' opposition to Condi Rice for VP

By Janet Folger

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is making the rounds vying for vice president. Last week, she paid a visit to Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform coalition meeting. I quit going to that meeting about a decade ago when Ann Stone of "Republican's for Choice" sat three seats away from me straining to hear our pro-life activities so she could try and stop them. Some tents are just too big.

By the way, Norquist, who often describes his position as "guns good, taxes bad" (something upon which most conservatives agree), after speaking for the Dallas Log Cabin Republicans, might want to update his introduction: "Homosexuality good, Marriage bad," since his event was the biggest fundraiser of the year for the group that fought against marriage while it was on the Texas ballot in 2005. I like to strategize with people who want the same things – the very reason I don't attend meetings at Obama headquarters. But I can certainly understand why Condoleezza stopped by.

I am a Republican because of the principles in the party spelled out in the platform. I will remain one until the Republican Party ceases to stand for my beliefs, including the basic principles of life, marriage, less government and a strong defense. And when candidates violate these basic principles, I simply will not vote for them – even for vice president.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice described herself as "mildly pro-choice." Let me first say, there is nothing "mild" about having your arms and legs ripped off your body in that "choice" we call abortion. Use any rhetoric you'd like, if you favor abortion, you still have a dead kid – 4,000 of them a day, actually, killed in the most non-mild ways imaginable.

Nothing particularly "mild" about Stephen Douglas being "pro-choice" when it came to slavery, either. No, the Republican Party was the one to stand against slavery even when candidates tried to hide behind the "pro-choice" (for the slave-owner) rhetoric.

Washington Times White House correspondent Bill Sammon pressed Rice, "But it sounds like you do not wish to change the laws that now allow (abortion). ..."

Rice responded, "Well, I don't spend my entire life thinking about these issues. … What I do think is that we should not have the federal government in a position where it is forcing its views on one side or the other."

If Lincoln held that position on slavery, we'd probably still have slave states today. We certainly wouldn't have an African-American secretary of state, that's for sure.

Beyond being wrong on the prerequisite issue of life, you won't believe what else she's wrong on. Austin Ruse, president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, summarized Rice's activities as head of the State Department with a Dec. 28, 2006, letter protesting the U.S. vote to give three radical homosexual groups official U.N. status.

Among the homosexual groups who were granted official "NGO (non-governmental organization) U.N. status was the Danish National Association for Gays and Lesbians, which supports homosexual "marriage," forced homosexual adoption and laws that would force churches to "bless" homosexual unions. Under Rice's direction, the U.S. also voted to recognize the International Lesbian and Gay Federation, which was linked to the North American Man/Boy Love Association and has refused to condemn adult-child sex.

Nothing "mild" about pedophilia, either. Forget going after child molesters; let's give them official status at the U.N.! Good one, Condi.

Then, on Oct. 10, 2006, Secretary Rice administered the oath of office for the global AIDS coordinator, homosexual activist Mark Dybul, while Dybul's domestic partner held the Bible. Ironic, isn't it? Too bad they never opened it. Dybul will oversee how $15 billion of our hard-earned tax dollars gets spent. Think of how you could further your agenda if your budget was $15 billion. I'd include the link to the homosexual publication that documents this, but it's laden with porn. What a shock.

Rice then introduced first lady Laura Bush to Dybul's domestic partner's mother as Dybul's "mother in law." This is only "mildly" at odds with the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (which even President Clinton signed) declaring that the federal government shall not recognize "marriage" between two men. Obviously, Secretary Rice doesn't "spend her entire life thinking about federal law" on that issue, either – "mildly speaking."

Seems Rice is so anxious to recognize homosexual "marriages" that she can't even wait for her radical homosexual U.N. efforts to take effect. Maybe she'd do better at Obama headquarters.

Not to mention her "road map for peace," which has "mildly" negative consequences for the survival of Israel, forcing the Jewish state to give up even more strategically significant land for promises of "peace" from "mild-mannered" terrorists and their mildly fanatical pursuit of world domination and the eradication of Israel from existence.

On my radio program yesterday, I was questioned about exposing the secretary of state's position without first going to her directly. Oh, I've already done that. I asked her to re-examine her radical abortion-on-demand position when I saw her at the inaugural ball back in 2001. I didn't have time to get to the rest.

Let me just summarize it for you: I am categorically, vehemently, emphatically and intensely opposed to Condoleezza Rice for vice president … to put it "mildly."

Disappointed in Rice

I am sad to discover Condoleeza's shortcomings. I was a supporter and even thought she'd make a great president, but not now. Thank you, Janet, for spelling it out clearly and factually.

So sorry to learn these things. Until now, I thought Condi Rice might make a good VP. I won't want her under these conditions.

Condi for VP

Janet, apparently you haven't be keeping up with all the news, but Ms. Rice has refuted the claims that she was wanting to be on anyone ticket for ANY ELECTED OFFICE! She has and still maintains that when Bush is out, she wants to go back to be a professor or possibly the Commissioner of Major League Baseball. Many folks have literally begged her to consider running for President and Vice President and she has adamantly publicly rejected it. The rumor of her bid for VP is a suspected Obama camp ploy. I have to say, that once upon the time I thought Condi would make an excellent choice for President or V.P., but in light of her Middle East policies, I have since retracted that support. However, I have not been aware of Condi's "Pro-Choice" stands, but since your information about her bid for the V.P. job is flawed, I am still not sure about her Pro-Choice position. It also appears that your attack on Ms. Rice a little on the venomous side, but I could be wrong as well. At this point, I don't think I would thump my chest about being a Republican! The Republican party has never really had many of the things as you accredited them with having as part of their platform. They have had "Conservative" candidates that have had those positions, but the party itself, still has a fair amount of moderate and liberals in its ranks. Fifty years ago, the Democrats had the lion's share of Conservatives in it. Even the beloved Ronald Reagan was a Democrat for early part of his adult life. The Republican party no longer holds even half of the "Conservative" ideals you espoused as your positions above. So it looks like you might should start looking for another party. Barring a "Strong Defense", which in light of so many Republican's initial support of the Amnesty bill last year, and resistances to a Border Fence, I'd say their position as the "National Defense" party, is on very shaky ground! Bush's support of a Palestinian homeland to be carved out of Israel, and the decaying support for Israel among Republicans and this country as a whole, should have you ready to bail out of the GOP. The GOP has sent a message to Christian Conservatives... "We don't want your antiquated morality or Christian beliefs any more, so just vote for who we tell you to, and shut up!" We are treated like lepers for following Yahushua Hammashiach and publicly stating our beliefs, by both Republicans and Democrats, which you can't tell a wit's worth differences unless you look to see whether they have a "R" or a "D" after their name! One last thing; Lincoln didn't begin the Civil War to free the Slaves, but to stop the Southern stats from seceding from the Union. Slavery was the sales pitch Lincoln used to sell the War to the Northern States who really didn't care one way or the other as to whether the South left the Union. Jefferson Davis, the Confederate President of the Confederacy later said, that He should have freed the Slaves at the beginning of the secession process, which would have very likely lead to a much different out come to the Civil War. Just trying to make sure the TRUTH doesn't get trampled to badly! Mark

Remaining a Republican
Posted On: 04/10/08 09:49:30 PM Age 65, WI
I agree wholeheartedly with Janet regarding Condi Rice, but Janet remains too loyal to a party platform that is pure fiction as far as deeds go. From her article, I quote Janet--" I will remain one until the Republican Party ceases to stand for my beliefs, including the basic principles of life, marriage, less government and a strong defense." The Republican Party was in control of both the Congress and the Presidency----all they came up with was the partial birth abortion ban which saved no lives. The marriage amendment has not seen the light of day and certainly the growth of government we've seen is scarey with President Bush getting his way with Americans having to give up their freedoms with the Patriot Act, getting rid of Habeus Corpus, and the soon to be implemented National ID Act. In addition, the spending under the Republicans was the worst it's ever been. Janet is fooling herself when she believes the platform words, but does not see the actions of the Republicans. Additionlly, Bush got us back into UNESCO, which Ronald Reagan to his credit, got us out of. If we want smaller government, we've got to get out of these foreign entanglements. Finally, I too believe in a strong defense. The key word here is DEFENSE. Not preemptive war. Iraq has been a disaster. This war cannot be called a just war. The objectives and goals keep changing as the failures mount. No Janet, either you don't watch what the Republican party has been doing, or you don't really believe what you say you do. Actions speak louder than words as the saying goes. Sometimes it's hard to get out of our comfort zone.

  1. Republicrats!

The two party political system in the US has morphed into one major power political system that has created candidates to its own liking. Most recently we have elected government officials that could care less about their constituents, and have brought corruption and calamity to the U.S. government. The way to go is to try to elect candidates who are anything but Republican or Democrat, but it may already be too late because the incumbent officials and representatives are so distanced from the people, that we are just a small step away from a complete dictatorship and martial law.
