McCain: How to lose the White House

McCain: How to lose the White House

By Janet Folger

It doesn't really matter how "honored" Mitt Romney would be to be chosen as Sen. John McCain's running mate, because if Sen. McCain wants to be president, he won't pick Romney. In fact, the very best way to lose the White House is to pick Mitt Romney for vice president. Here are just a few reasons why.

  1. Mitt Romney did two "post conversion" things the Clintons and Obamas only dream about:

    a. He ORDERED homosexual marriage, and

    b. He made abortion a tax-funded "health care benefit" in his state mandated socialized medicine plan.

  2. On life and marriage, there is no one worse than Mitt Romney.

  3. He's billed as "Mr. Money," but he had to loan himself millions because he couldn't raise enough to run. Romney outspent Mike Huckabee by about 20 to one. If you want to spend 20 times more than you would if you picked Gov. Huckabee, Romney's your guy. According to the Los Angeles Times, he spent $98 million dollars ($42.3 million of his own money) and only won three primaries: Utah, Massachusetts and Michigan – his three "home" states.

In a cost/delegate analysis, there is no one worse than Mitt Romney.

  4. According to Rasmussen, Romney has "the least core support" and "the most core opposition of all the leading candidates, Republican or Democrat." Nearly half of Americans, 47 percent, find Romney so politically repugnant that they say they will vote against him "no matter who else is on the ballot." Gallup Guru put it this way: "Romney is the 'only candidate with a more negative than positive ratio.'"

When it comes to popular support, there is no one worse than Mitt Romney.

  5. The one who attacked John McCain in the campaign the most was none other than Mitt Romney. If you want a guy that will attack you in an effort to get ahead, Romney's your pick. McCain's response to that attack is seen on video, speaking of "One of a number of [Romney's] attacks." McCain himself points out: "As we've gone up in the polls the attacks have grown more … hysterical." By the way, it was Huckabee during the race who defended McCain, calling him a "true … American hero" and calling the Romney attack "desperate and dishonest."

When it comes to a record of personal attack against Sen. McCain, there is no one worse than Mitt Romney.

If you want to lose, there is a sure fire way to do that: Pick Mitt Romney or someone else who can't be trusted to defend the right to life and the institution of marriage. Someone who can't be trusted, period. As the Myths of Mitt Romney point out, Romney has trouble with the truth. Here are a few that have been documented:

  1. Romney said his father marched with Martin Luther King Jr. He didn't.
  2. Romney said he marched with Martin Luther King Jr. He didn't.
  3. Romney said: "I have a gun of my own." He doesn't.
  4. Romney said he was endorsed by the National Rifle Association. He wasn't.
  5. Romney said he's been a hunter "all my life." Well, he hunted exactly "Twice." Once every forty years. In fact, according to public officials in four states where Romney lived, he never took out a license.

Not only did he flip on every major social issue just before running for president, he wasn't even honest about it: Romney said both: "I wasn't pro-choice." and "I was pro-choice."

According to Rasmussen, the candidate of either party with the least hard-core opposition among American voters besides John McCain (at 33 percent) is …Gov. Mike Huckabee (at 34 percent). Rasmussen reports the only candidate (of either party) with as much hard-core opposition from American voters as Romney is Hillary Clinton (tied at 47 percent).

The numbers don't lie. Sen. McCain, there is one sure-fire way to lose the White House: Pick Mitt Romney.

I'm not telling you whom to pick, but if you want the vice presidential candidate who in addition to winning the "must win" states in the primary, who has the best cost/vote ratio, who has proven he can energize the base of the party, who defended (not attacked) you even before you won the nomination, who is honest, consistent and according to Rasmussen, has the least opposition among American voters, Mike Huckabee is your guy.

Ask him, I'm sure he would be honored to be your vice president, and I'm sure millions more would be honored to vote for you if you do.

McCain is going to be on the Republican ticket
Posted On: 03/26/08 05:10:41 PM Age 44, IA
It is important that he choose a conservative evangelical. Make your argument about being unequally yoked if you need to, but I would definitely trust Mike Huckabee to be a Christian presence in the White House. He is not going to back off from his beliefs for anyone. I don't very often agree with Rush Limbaugh or Janet Folger but Huckabee is the running mate the Republicans are looking for.

...maybe four. Mike Huckabee is the epitomy of compromise. He is proud of his membership in a New Age cult (the Purpose Driven "church") which is based completely on compromise and tollerance of sin. They just pretty it up by calling it "Seeker-Friendly". The "Huckster" would accept McCains offer in a second. It wouldn't matter that McCain bears the fruit of a bleeding-heart liberal because he (McCain) "says" he's a "Christian". B. Hussein Obama and Mrs. Bill Blythe Clinton also claim to be "Christian". Maybe Mike should offer his services to them. Hukcabee is just as ego-driven and publicity-craving as the rest of them-he is just able to quote scripture and Will Rogers type phrases better than the rest. Thumping that bass guitar doesn't hurt either. The other half of the: "I think God's going to put a conservative Christian in the Whitehouse" crowd thinks that Ross Pero...sorry, Ron Paul is the savior of the Constitution. Mr. Paul thinks homosexuals are born with a gay gene (it's the pink one) and they should have special rights to allow for their "pride" shows. Don't look for ol' Ron to help you explain the perv' fest's to your babies, that's your responsibility. And you had better show some tollerance or you'll risk being arrested for committing a hate crime. Running a "strong" campaign on shoe-string budget doesn't prove that it's a God thing. This is NOT a "Christian nation" and it won't be evangelized by some smooth-talking politician. The obvious odds are that a liberal, Christian poser is going to be elected this year. If a true, uncompromising, bold, brave, praying, selfless, compassionate, repentant, truthful, born again man or woman of God is written in and elected without being destroyed in the proccess, THEN I'll know it's a God thing. I don't put my hope in temporal things and I try to teach my children to do the same. Repent, America!

Maybe if you stand on a railroad track as a fast train approaches, and the train doesn't run over you, then you will know it was "God Thing." George Cancilla

Two Peas In A Pod

McCain has proven that a liberal can get the Republican nomination. Every decision the man has made has been to benefit libs. Do you expect the Romney-running mate decision to be the thing that stops McCain? Janet, you live in a dream world.

  1. Can you defend that statement?
    Posted On: 04/12/08 08:48:32 PMAge 52, GA
"Every decision the man has made has been to benefit libs." That sir is an outright lie, is it not? Senator McCain has made numerous decisions in his life, as we all have, both public and private. Are you willing to go back as far as when he refused the North Koreans offer to release him, to stay and support his fellow pow's? What about your own decisions sir, have they all been without blemish? Do you equate conservatism, with being sinless? None are righteous, and none are perfect conservatives. Senator McCain is still our best choice in this race. May I humbly suggest you chasten yourself, before making such broad accusations. By the way, I wholeheartedly support Janet's conclusions in her article. Romney has proven himself a rich fraud that tried to buy votes. I hope and pray McCain doesn't get swayed by his fat wallet. A good-natured populist like Huckabee would go a long way in attracting true social conservatives to vote for the ticket, because inspite of the attacks, none can really discredit him as a born again believer. May all praise honor and glory go to the Lord Jesus Christ, who will not be defeated! Porter. +++

Ye Shall Know Them By Their Fruit
Posted On: 03/26/08 08:38:19 AM Age 61, MO
John McCain is the epitome of everything that is wrong with most Americans; that is they are like Esau, and have sold their souls for a pottage of red meat. And like Esau, they are headed for hell in a handbasket. If Mike Huckabee were to share the presidential ticket with McCain, then what little is left of the Christian witness in America, will be the laughingstock of the world. I recommend reading Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt's article about McCain on this site. George Cancilla
