In one of the boldest moves yet in their promotion of New Spirituality, Doug Pagitt and Rob Bell are joining the Dali Lama, Desmond Tutu, and a whole line-up of New Spirituality proponents for the Seeds of Compassion Interspiritual Event in Seattle on April 15 to nurture “spirituality” in youth. Doug Pagitt says on his blog that he is “extremely excited” about the event. Rob Bell and Pagitt will be joining Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Episcopalians, Catholics and the United Nations (UNESCO) at this event. The reason that Pagitt is “extremely excited” about this New Spirituality celebration is that he believes that the Gospel is found in other world religions, and he told me so on my radio show.
Expect the emerging leaders like Bell, Pagitt, McLaren and others to become increasingly bold in their interspiritual alliances with New Age/New Spirituality proponents. The world, and the false church, is ready for it.

Sorry to burst your bubble that this is just an early childhood development/compassion training event, but if you dig deeper into the Seattle event's own website and its links you will find the word "spiritual" all over it. Excuse me for being nit picky but spiritual is just a more acceptable way of saying religious. The idea that one can be "spiritual" but not "religious" is just plain baloney!
That this event is in Seattle with every level of community and political leader represented (the governor is the honorary chair-separation of church and state?!) says a lot. That I worship in one of the most prominent, culturally saavy churches in the region and have not heard a word of information or warning of this event also speaks volumes. Heaven help us and the children in our charge. We should all be in fasting and prayer as this event unfolds in our naive and unsuspecting community. Click here to reply to this post

This event they are a part of is learning about child development, and there happens to be nothing about religion in it. It is a event that educates leaders on the necessity of early cognitive, emotional, and social development. Many kids across the world do not receive adequate attention to these areas of their lives. Just because there happens to be people of other religions there doesn't mean that learning how to improve the psychological functioning of children is pagan or universalistic or post-modern or anything. Maybe you should realize how lucky you are for having an upbringing in which your brain developed just fine before you start turning this event into another situation to wage your war against "emergent leaders". -Dan Smith Click here to reply to this post

"how do we bring awareness of spirituality and compassion to our children in the first years of life?"
I quote directly from the website. How does this NOT have anything to do with leading our children down the pagan path. Hindu's,buddhists, rob bell, please, this conference has nothing to do with positive child development. Only someone who is blinded to the truth would think otherwise. Click here to reply to this post
Nothing Christian about this

This website is all the Dalai Lama and suggests to visitors that they check out the buddhist works of the dalai. As a Christian we should be concerned about the welfare of future generations, but if a child is not trained in the way of Christ, then they will fall for deceptive spiritual practices that will only lead them to hell. It is our job to make sure that the Gospel of Christ is spread throughout the world. Ingrid may God continue to guide you in the truth about this new spirituality. It has crept into the church I currently attend and the head pastor was unaware that the youth pastor was using Rob Bell videos.

Let me get this straight. You think that they brought the Dali Lama, the head of the American Islamic Association, a Sikh, a Hindu leader, a Zen Buddhist leader and the Dean of an Episcopal seminary together because they wanted to talk child development? Don't make me laugh! You apparently didn't even bother to look at the paragraph under the header "InterSPIRITUALITY" Day. Did you catch that. "InterSpirituality"! Here's their summary of their purpose: "The concluding session of Seeds of Compassion is a Youth and Spiritual Connection Dialogue. Global, national and local luminaries representing faiths from around the world will gather to discuss nurturing youth with spirituality." That doesn't sound like child development to me, sir. Your kind of excuse making for apostates like Rob Bell (the Bible is NOT God's Word, he says), and Doug Pagitt, who believes that the Gospel is found in other world religions, is what is ushering in the antichrist one world spirituality. Keep making excuses. Keep justifying what is biblically unjustifiable. The enemy is very glad to have your help. Wake up, Christians! Click here to reply to this post

Dan, I don't think you fully understand the threat to Christianity, which dictates that God's children be raised in the way in which they should go: "Which way" is according to God's Word as set forth in His Holy Scriptures. Parents the world over do NOT need a "think tank" of professional "leaders" to assist them in raising their children. It would be wonderful if they could all know Jesus. But Bible prophecy tells us to expect the Church on earth will become more and more apostate before the second coming of Christ. "Emergent leaders" aid and abet this apostasy by not adhering to basic Biblical doctrine. We may not be able to change the prophecy of apostasy, but neither should we encourage it. I personally think that these so called "emergent leaders" and spiritual gurus are capitalizing on the void left in peoples' hearts who do not know Christ. Their writings and conferences only worsen this problem. George Cancilla Click here to reply to this post

I can't imagine why Pagitt, who has been a Christian for 23 years he says, would want to write a book called "Emergent Manifesto of Hope." Does he have some problem with the Holy Scriptures of God?" This whole thing with the Dali Lama, and the universal religious movement, is keeping the Gospel from many people who might have otherwise had the opportunity to hear it, but who now think that this "new spirituality" is sufficient for salvation.
