Calling Men To be Men & Women to be Women

A new year is upon us and I can’t help but wonder if we will continue to spiral down to the abyss called political correctness. With all the new rules about what things are acceptable to say and what is not, nothing brings out the shrill like the topic I am about to address. The motivation behind politically correct verbiage is a sort of religion. We hear it regularly enforced when any public figure says something deemed to be “insensitive” or worse “hateful.”As one who loathes the never ending examples of political correctness, let me say the following without reservation;
I have not been, I am not now, and I shall never be politically correct. Furthermore I despise the notion that somehow my free speech is automatically hate speech simply because I do not agree with the present pop culture short term dogma.
Now to the topic to which I know I will be called the same old tired names. The topic is male authority….Yes take a deep breath, I did say Male Authority. To those who have bought the lie that there is no difference between man and woman I would expect a negative reaction. To those who believe there is a difference and yet are afraid to say so, I will get another reaction. That reaction will be cloaked in something “spiritual” that starts out like this; “I believe that God has made men to lead but….” Next comes a myriad of expressions of how a man should not do this and should not do that. The assumption is that all men will be abusive. You see even in the Church there has been an influence from the world of political correctness that manifests itself by an immediate qualification concerning male authority. Feminism is alive and well in the Church. In fact there are many women that call themselves Christian Feminists.” That should make any Biblical Christian uneasy to say the least.
The bible makes it quite clear that there is an authority structure in both the home and the Church. Let us start with the home. In the following Scriptures we see the plain truth;
1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and he is the savior of the body.”
In these passages we see the clear distinction of authority of the husband over the wife. Not only do we see this as an established law of God’s will, we also see this in terms of the power of God himself to grant authority. He says here “even as Christ is the head of the Church.” The Word of God is explicit in its description of God’s delegated authority to the husband over the wife. He compares it to the headship of Christ over the Church and declares that in the same way that Jesus Christ has authority over the Church, the husband has authority over his wife. Now of course this will fly in the face of feminism which declares that no one has authority over a woman simply because she is a woman. The bible clearly teaches that a man has authority over his wife because she is a woman by design. Consider the following Scripture;
1 Corinthians 11:8-9 “ For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.”
From this passage we see that not only is the husband the head of the wife but also the wife was made by God purposely for the man (someone call an ambulance for the feminists who are reading this and going into convulsions). This clear teaching of the Scripture is a great offense to modern thinking and even many in the Christian community seek to dismiss it, or try to make it more palatable by watering it down with different words. Instead of submission we hear words like “complimentarian” Here is the problem with that; submission means; obedient in deferring ones will to another. If one agrees with a decision then by definition they are not in submission. Submission can only apply when you do not agree and then make the choice to willingly defer your will to the one who has authority over you. Although men and women complement one another, submission does not mean complimenting one another. The bible declares undeniably that the husband is the head of the wife and that she is under his authority as given by God himself.
We now have a couple of generations of men who have been raised to believe that there is no difference between men and women beyond the obvious physical differences. The world has inculcated this notion through the education system, the general media, and entertainment establishments. We now have many men who feel no sense of leadership responsibility since in their minds there is no difference between women and men. Why should a man desire to protect and provide for a woman if there is no difference? What is the moral obligation? In the present worldly philosophy there is no moral obligation and further more there can’t be any according to post modern amoral thinking. We see the breakdown of the family, the destruction of children’s formative years, and the loss of understanding of parental authority.
Men now get their information concerning what a man should be from disgusting shows on television that show men to be stupid, drunk, uncommitted animals who only care about getting a woman in bed to meet their own base sexual needs. Many women find themselves in a situation where they feel that men are not dedicated to them. They ask the question; “Why can’t I find a man who will be committed.” The reason is simple. The more we raise boys to believe that they are no different from girls, the more we will have men who do not believe that they are any different from women and thus there is no need to protect or provide in a committed sense. This mind set coupled with sexual promiscuity leads to more cohabitation and less marriage. Hence we have what we have; a mess!
Now we turn this article to male authority in the Church. There are many now who are embracing the idea that women should have the right to be Pastors and Elders. This is a direct outgrowth of the feminism that I mentioned earlier. Since in their mind there is no difference between men and women, there should be no limit on women being Pastors. This is not only a result of feminism’s idea of “Liberation”, it is the direct result of pure rebellion against the Word of God in the name of “liberation”. There is no “liberation” apart from God’s delegated authority as revealed in His Word. The New Testament Church has no examples of woman being Elders or Pastors. In fact the bible specifically forbids it. Look at the following Scripture;
1 Timothy 2:12-14 “ But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness. For Adam was first formed, then Eve; and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression”
1 Timothy is a pastoral letter. The Apostle Paul clearly teaches that he “permit not a woman to teach nor have authority over a man.” Some have said that this was due to the cultural situation but that position is not sustained by the facts or context of the passage. He makes it clear that culture has nothing to do with it when he brings the reason back to creation is saying “”For Adam was first formed, then Eve.” In creation as we also have seen from 1 Corinthians chapter eleven verses eight and nine, God made woman subject to man. Here the Apostle makes it clear that the principle also applies in the Church. The Apostle Paul goes on in the third chapter of 1 Timothy to say the following;
1 Timothy 3:4 “one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity”
Here the Apostle brings the authority a man has in the home to the Church as well since we know from Ephesians chapter five verse twenty three that the man rules the home. Continuing to the next verse;
1 Timothy 3:5 “ (but if a man knoweth not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)”
Since the man rules the home and must do so properly in order to be a ruler in the Church, the Apostle again makes it clear that men are Church leaders.
Some have used the worst type of hermeneutical torture of Scripture to somehow use this following verse to justify woman pastors;
Galatians 3:28 “There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus.”
It is an absurdity to use this passage to justify woman pastors since the context of this verse has nothing to do with authority in the home, or Church. This passage read in the context is plainly speaking of all believers having the same inheritance of salvation no matter if “Jew or Greek, bond or free, male or female”. Their forced interpretation would have to apply to the home too. Yet we know from some of the previous mentioned passages that woman are subject to their husbands authority in the home. Men and women are equal in value but not equal in authority. That is the biblical view and anything else is feminist rebellious lies perpetrated by either the uninformed or the enemies of the truth.
God has called men to be men. God’s Word calls men to protect, and provide, to lead, and love, to be responsible and committed. God has called women to follow their husband’s leadership. A man is never under his wife’s spiritual or natural authority. The man is the head of the home and as we have seen also called to lead the Church. We now have a culture that desires to feminize boys. In many schools it is not allowed for boys to play games that may hurt someone. No dodge ball since you may hurt someone and worse yet, hurt their feelings. Spare me this ridiculous notion that someone may get hurt. Boys always get hurt since they are boys. Training boys to never have their feelings hurt only sets them up for failure since life at times hurts everyone’s feelings.
God made Men and women to complement one another yes, but he did not make them the same physically or emotionally. God is the God of order. When sin entered the world through the disobedient actions of Adam and Eve, the world was thrown into disorder. The order that God established in the home and the Church is male authority. Those who advocate women being in spiritual authority over men are simply advocating disorder.
1 Corinthians 14:33 “ For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
The word “confusion” means disorder, and instability. God is not the author of it. God authored order. The Scripture is clear about God wanting all things done in order (1 Cor 11:34, 14:40).
So here is the call to men;
1 Kings 2:1-2 “ Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man” (bold mine)
1) Man up!
2) Be responsible
3) Take your family to a bible preaching church
4) Work hard to provide for your family
5) Love and protect your wife and children with your own life if necessary
6) Research and make good decisions for the sake of your family
7) Stop allowing the culture to dictate your beliefs
8) Do not allow the culture to make you feel guilty about being a biblical man
9) Have guts to correct your family in love
10) Tithe unto the Lord and teach your children to honor God and his Church leaders.
And here is the call to women;
Titus 2:4 “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children” (Bold mine)
1) Submit yourself to your husband, he is your spiritual leader
2) Be responsible
3) Encourage you man as he leads you to church
4) Respect his position as your head
5) Stop nagging and manipulating to get your way
6) Stop allowing the culture to dictate your beliefs
7) Do not allow the culture to make you feel guilty about being a biblical woman
8) Receive your husband’s direction and correction with respect
9) Teach your children to honor God’s, their father’s, and church leader’s authority.
10) Reject feminism and embrace God’s call to have a meek and gentle spirit (1 Pet 3:4)
I am well aware that this article is not politically correct. I am also aware of the fact that many women who call themselves Christians will also not like this article. I can hear the name calling already however it is not my job to tickle your ears and make you feel good about your rebellion. It is my job to speak the truth as found in the Word of God.
2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears”
Titus 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
If you are a Christian, you endure sound doctrine. Will you hold to sound doctrine, or give your ears to the vain philosophy of men? You have the choice to either accept God’s will or reject it. That is up to you. I hope your receive the Word of God, act on it, and reap the great rewards of being obedient to it. The Lord bless you as you stand against the river of rebellion that constantly rages against the things of God.
