Letter from a Worldview Weekend Speaker and Future Prisoner

Letter from a Worldview Weekend Speaker and Future Prisoner

Nov. 29, 2010

To the Resistance:

I'm writing this letter from prison, where I've been since the beginning of 2010. Since Hillary was elected in '08, Christian persecution in America has gotten even worse than we predicted.

When the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" was signed into law, my radio program was yanked off the air along with all the others that dared discuss moral issues on Christian radio. The networks just couldn't bring themselves to air a pro-abortion program or one that advocates the homosexual agenda for the government mandated "balance" because broadcasting lies went against their basic beliefs – I don't blame them.

We knew "Thought Crimes" was in danger of becoming law back when it passed Congress in 2007, but thankfully, President Bush kept his promise to veto it. But, tragically, Hillary signed that most dangerous bill in America – ushering in the criminalization of Christianity. And now, even my book, "The Criminalization of Christianity," has been banned as "hate speech" just as I predicted when I wrote it back in 2005.

When the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act" ("Thought Crimes" for the Workplace) became law, businesses and ministries were targeted by homosexual activists and were forced to close when they wouldn't comply with a law forcing them to hire those opposed to their beliefs on moral issues.

When they canceled my program, banned my book and targeted my ministry, I knew it was only a matter of time before I'd be forced into "prison ministry" against my will. Unfortunately for our nation, that ministry is growing fast. A homeschooling mom was assigned the cell next to me. I try to comfort her, but she cries constantly at the thought of her kids being raised in government foster care.

The forced labor here makes me think that I should have done more for our brothers and sisters in China sent to labor camps for the crime of hosting a home church, or those imprisoned in every Muslim country for choosing Christ over Allah. We should have seen the writing on the wall when Yahoo turned over confidential searches to the Chinese government, sending people to prison, and when Google barred American Christian sites from its search engines as "haters." Finding allied ministries is now almost impossible.

Most didn't see it coming. I try not to think about how the 2009 "Freedom of Choice Act" wiped out every single pro-life law from parental notice to the ban on partial birth abortion. And how "anti-reproductive rights" was added to the "Thought Crime" statute, which, like California before the election, means a year in jail if someone claims to feel "intimidated" by anything a pro-lifer might do – like express their beliefs in public.

But, like the homeschool mom in the cell beside me, I cry too. I cry mostly because it didn't have to be this way. Just three years ago – in 2007 – we had a chance to unite and achieve our lifetime goals of restoring protection to children in the womb, and protecting our foundational relationship of marriage between a man and a woman. And now the suggestion of it is treated like the illegal mention of a "mom" or "dad" to the California School Board.

Martin Niemöller's words ring true. I see them with a modern twist:

  • When they came for the Chinese, I did not speak up because those slave-labor goods were so very cheap.

  • When they came for the Afghan and Iraqi Christians, I did not speak up because I didn't want to undermine the war effort.

  • When they came for the German homeschoolers, I didn't speak up because I live in America.

  • When they came for the Philadelphia 11, I didn't speak up, because I was from Cleveland.

  • When they came for me, speaking up had become illegal.

No, in 2007 and 2008, American Christians were so used to the status quo that they forgot we were in this to win. Compromised and divided, they choose to protest rather than protect.

When the Christian and conservative leaders couldn't stop fighting over their candidate of compromise or their favorite "tier two" pick, we missed our last chance at victory – victory for children facing the abortionists' knife and victory for the institution foundational to our society – marriage.

All the money in the world couldn't buy Mitt Romney's trust. And no one seemed to remember what Rudy Giuliani had said of the previous Clinton administration: "Most of Clinton's policies are similar to most of mine." Or how he praised the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, and offered up a citywide proclamation honoring the infamous racist eugenicist, whose organization has brutally killed more babies than any other in the Western Hemisphere.

Did they really think we would have a chance to beat Hillary with "Hillary-lite?"

There was a tier-one candidate that stood for our goals of life and marriage – that man was Gov. Mike Huckabee. Had we nominated Huckabee to run against Hillary, the stark difference between the two would have brought voters out in droves. And we never would have seen the Supreme Court appointments of Charles Schumer and Diane Feinstein. If only there were a way to go back in time to change … I've gotta go. The guard spotted me writing again.

Mrs. Folger, you have crossed the line between advocating for a candidate, and treating him like the Second Coming. Get real. There are other candidates who would oppose abortion, the "Fairness Doctrine," and government interference in homeschooling. Stop behaving as though we will all die, our houses will burn and we will die, my gracious we're going to die, and try to bring something OTHER than propaganda to the table.--Mrs. Pilgrim

Before anyone boasts about how they are willing to be imprisoned for thier faith like this, they need to take another look at what happened to Peter.

What an excellent article- I wish that it would have used the very words of Martin Niemoller but...I didn't write it! It is a problem in America that we don't follow a Christian worldview- we think we are immune to problems because we are free! But, as our society becomes more and more post-Christian, post-Modern, post-whatever, we have become more partisan, and more willing to support what is wrong- including embracing one party despite who the put in front of us! Clinton would lead us down a sure path towards socialism and persecution, but dare we elect someone like Guiliani or Romney who have consistant records that echo a lesser Hilary? Dare we choose someone who will still lead us down the wrong path, just at a slower pace? Why do we have to choose between the lesser of two evils! I echo great German Theologian (and friend of Niemoller) when I say that I am a Christian first, and secondly a citizen of the United States. I will make sure to elect the person who best exemplifies what the Bible says- not the person who looks pretty or has the "best chance"! I agree with this article when it says that she supports Huckabee- but for the very reason that he is a firm Christian (the debate once again proved that the other night by noting the truth of scripture, pro-life, etc.). He is a man that I can trust because he has principles based on the Bible which he is in line with. I just pray that he has enough support (et tu Pat Robertson, Sam Brownback). Examine Huckabee closely, and hopefully he (or someone else) can lead us forward rather than down a slippery, socialist, one world government filled slope to destruction!

Wow, I've never read so much input from the younger crowd. Good for you, but you will learn more about life and politics as you age. It's a natural thing, so don't be offended. It's good to see that you are passionate about God and the politics we have been so ingulfed in. I think the older generation has lost their passion for God and everything else for that matter, and I am one of the elder, so I think I can speak for my cohorts. We are so disallusioned and depressed about the state of our country, that we give up and don't know the power of one. I am afraid to fail, so I won't go to the nearest Take 2 video store and protest against the porn in our town. The only thing I do is gripe and vote. Come on boomers, where is the back bone we used to have when we believed so strongly about our 'rights to party' in the 60's and 70's? If anyone stood against us, we would protest it. We went out into the streets carrying signs, getting arrested. We fought in every state for those rights, now where are we? Mindless, living off the government we spurn. Since we won't do anything as one, alone, let's stand together as God's children, and tell the world, we are not going to take it anymore. If we are lucky, we'll end up in the cell next to Janet. :~) Brenda

Hmm, maybe a bit of persecution in our lives would benefit every Christian. Seems to me the truth is alive and well in countries where Christians are persecuted and killed daily for their beliefs. What do we have here, seeker sensitive, mega churches, life coaches, spirituality, new age oh and don't forget the latest christian fad, Post Modernism and the Emergent Church. I'm all for persecution, maybe we'll all wake up and weed out the chaff. And yes, we're here to do God's will, not the other way around, put your faith in God, not some politician. Speak out against these Christian fads and put your faith where it should be.

Amen - kings and kingdoms are God's purview, let us be about being salt and light to those with ears to hear and eyes to see. And we do that every day in the way we live, not in who we support or condemn, not in battles to keep "Christ" in Christmas, not in battles to keep the Word in the world, but in our hearts, lived out in our actions. Until He comes,

That was fantastic! Granted, you left out a few players, ignored the fact that(so far as I can recall) most politicians on either side of the aisle are Christians, and glossed over the Hucksters shortcomings, but, nonetheless, that was a superb piece of sensationalism masquerading itself as a thoughtful critique on politics.

Please, please stop with the crazy paranoia. This is the reason that Christians are increasingly losing their voice in the culture - not b/c the culture has rejected Christ (which is enough of a stumbling block as it is) but because so many in the family write and believe crazy, crazy things like this. Honestly - and not to be inflammatory at all - I believe that you do more damage to the name of Christ with propaganda pieces like this than any secular humanist could ever, ever do.

I don't know why Christian Worldview Network would allow anyone in their 20 to display their immature sentiments on this site. Why don't you get a clue first before speaking kid you're and embarassment. Read a little history, get a little education before speaking.

The writer above 50,AL was 29. I've seen plenty of responses to those under 20 who were more on the mark than some of the older readers.

Yes young man you should learn to listern to your elders before expressing your views. Look to the wise older men(and women)who run America today, see how they have made it into a nation that inspires all who look to it, what other country do you know that has so much repect in the world today. How much could other countries learn from these older and therfore wise people. Steve

How old was Timothy? Are elders old? I found the remarks of the 20-something year old to be at least thought provoking even if I do not agree with his/her comments. When I cannot read someone's opinion without personal attack, could that be because I might have to consider their opinion, ask questions of my opinion, and possibly seek truth in a matter. The thoughts I had in response to the 20-something year old were: are we like the Jews in Jesus time who prevent people from the Kingdom by our words, actions, doctrines, and traditions? As a teenager, I went to a "christian" school- so much of what I encountered there was a push away from Christ because of what these cultural churchians displayed. They were not salt and light. They were not holy. Most were tares and goats. Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith- not just for your own ticket to heaven but are you being salt and light to those around you, or are you spewing tradtitions and doctrines of men?

So, CWN should not let 20-year-olds post their thoughts on the basis that they fall into that age category? What if I was to say that CWN shouldn't allow 50-year-olds from Pennsylvania to post. I like that idea. How about you grow up and learn to agree to disagree. Wait, sorry, that's silly. You're right. Everyone younger than you that takes a differing opinion is an idiot. My apologies.

So what's scarier - life under Hilary or life under an "evangelical christian" like this - now he obviously has some great ideas for limiting speech and freedoms. Even christians can get so twisted we don't see the double standards we apply.

Holy Over-dramatic! This is maybe the most unbelievably nihilistic, ridiculous thing I have ever read. I can appreciate a little hyperbole, but good grief. This is overboard. The most over-dramatic part of this "letter" is not the prediction of what would happen if Mrs. Clinton is elected, or how good it would be for The United States of America (i.e. God's chosen nation...apparently) if Mr. Huckabee is elected. No, the most ridiculous part of this is that the author thinks themself important enough that they would be imprisoned--it's laughable; that and assuming Christianity will be outlawed if a democratic candidate is elected is completely unfounded. Mr. Huckabee will not be, any more than any other person, the cure or God's answer for this country. Let us remember that he too is human. The author's zeal is quite something, albeit misdirected. You people better figure out who you're going to vote for. It doesn't appear that you will have your pet candidate who mirrors your beliefs on your two favorite platforms. You might have to use your collective head and vote for the candidate who will make the best president--not just the person who agrees with your view of abortion and homosexuality. I can't wait for the 2008 election--to see you people waste your votes on a third party candidate: your own veritable Ross Perot. Hahaha!
