This article’s title is one of great importance due to the connection that has been lost in modern historical revisionism. It is a tragic and unpatriotic move away from our true history to the cesspool of political correctness. What does the Bible have to do with the Constitution of the United States of America? Would it have mattered if there was no Bible when the country was founded? Why should anyone care? It was John Quincy Adams that said,
“The highest glory of the American Revolution was this, it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity” – John Quincy Adams
This is a point of fact that is beyond clear in the history of this great nation. To argue that our founders were interested in establishing a society that is void of Christian principles is absurd! Nothing could be farther from the truth. This truth however is not the issue for the secularist, relativist, un-American, anti-Christian bigots that find their hearts so stained with hatred, that they will go to any length to make sure the truth is suppressed. They will do anything and say anything. They will lie, twist, and muddy the waters so that their desire for humanism will prevail. They are relativists. A relativist is one who stands on nothing, stands for nothing, and is motivated by short term thinking influenced by circular reasoning. It is not logic that dictates the relativist; it is corrupt emotion and deception that clouds the real reason for relativism. The reason whether known by the relativist or not is unbridled pantheistic licentiousness. This is a war. This is a war of world view. It is a desire of the left in this country to completely destroy all Christian influence and heritage. Due to the deception of their minds by Satan they see themselves as being the “enlightened ones” the “civilized ones”. There in nothing enlightened or civilized about dead babies, crime, high taxes, government intrusion in personal property rights etc. There is nothing enlightening or civilized about tyranny!
What about the average American? Is it their desire to destroy our heritage? I do not think that the average American has any personal planned desire to destroy our heritage. I think that the average American is asleep and so out of touch with reality that it is boggles the mind. They have no idea what is happening. They have been slowly manipulated to believe that our founders were something other than what they were. They have been slowly lied to and convinced of all kinds of half-truths and outright lies. They are not stupid but they are increasingly ignorant of the facts of history and reason. They are moved by their hearts that are impatient and focused only on their own short term selfish desires. This is why they are so moved by political speeches and ads on T.V. They are clueless about the war against us from within our own country. The standard of reasoning is now sound bites, and slick political ads.
Since the left has gained control of the education system, including higher education, there has been a concerted effort to change the world view of young people. Over time the world view of the power brokers would change to a secular, leftist, big-government, multi-lateral international mind set. Human will is seen as good and desirable to solve all problems. The human will…oh what power it is and what a battle it rages against logical conclusions. The will of man finds a way to rationalize against what is often known already by experience. Intemperate human will is the downfall of the character. It is often a construct of conclusion in others that convinces them that their will is to be trusted as well. It is often the case that those who are given to it look for others of like mind in order to complete their own deception. In this they find a false peace. Conversely, those who understand the power of the human will never rest from their battle against it. Theirs is a constant replacement of their will with the temperance of the Spirit of God.
The founders did not trust human will and that is why they did not trust big government. The founders knew that every time a person gained unbridled control over a nation that the end was tyranny. The also knew that a system its self could be tyrannical. The Constitution is set up to reflect that world view understanding with its separation of powers and checks and balances. But what has happened? What is the reason for the twisting of the original intent of limited government found so clearly in the Constitution? Why have the political forces been allowed to use the Constitution as a means of oppression instead of its original founding purpose of liberty? The answer is found in the wisdom of our founding fathers. Benjamin Franklin said;
“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom, as nations become corrupt and vicious they have more need of masters” – Benjamin Franklin
Remember what John Quincy Adams said as quoted above about the “indissoluble bond” between the principles of Christianity and civil government? This is the problem and the reason why our nation has fallen so far away from our heritage and liberty. As goes the Bible….so goes the Constitution. The principles founded have their basis in a culture that understands that God is watching and that he is absolute and supreme! As we have gone away from biblical truth we have also gone away from the principles established in the Constitution. This is why James Madison said the following;
“We have staked the whole future of American civilization not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the whole future of all our political institutions on the capacity of man for self government, on the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to sustain our selves, according to the ten commandments of God” – James Madison
Is there any wonder as to why we have fallen so far? Prayer has been removed from schools. The Bible has been removed from schools. The effort to remove any vestige of our founding cultural bedrock principles has been successful and thus this is why we have an over 50% divorce rate, 37% children born out of wedlock, personal property rights violated, international influence governing us, huge government bureaucracy, millions of babies slaughtered, extremely high overall tax burden, and on and on and on…
There is a direct correlation to liberalism in the church and the liberalism in the society. The more biblically illiterate the society is, the less influence the founding biblical principles have. The church in America has sold out to sweet fluff, and seeker sensitive driven preaching that offends no one except the actual Bible believer! I am not talking about ministry style. I am talking about the substance of the message. Everything is fluff and what “prosperity is in it for me” with no conviction of the serious truth of the Word of God. Salvation in Christ alone is hardly preached with conviction any longer in many churches including mega-churches. Hell is almost never mentioned. Men are not allowed to be men any longer. Preachers are afraid to speak the truth about male headship in the home and church. Is there any wonder why we are in the place we are in when churches embrace feminism and ordain women as pastors in direct violation of the Bible? (1 Tim 2:12, 1Tim 3:1-7) The God given authority is broken down by political correctness. The same logic is used then to further fall into insanity as homosexuals are ordained into some “churches”. Instead of following the biblical mandate, liberal “Christians” are choosing to change the Bible to fit their own desires. They are those who worship their own feelings instead of the living God who has commanded us not to ad to of take away from His Holy Word (Rev. 22:19) I know why people are afraid to say what I just said. I myself have received hate mail because I am not afraid to speak the truth of the Bible. As the culture descends to the lowest form of relativism and evil, we only seal our national doom as we rot from within having lost our conviction of God’s Holy Word. Is there any wonder as to why the commitment level in true local churches is dwindling?
Our founding fathers were committed to the cause of liberty. Not only their own liberty but to the cause that all Americans, then and in the future would walk in liberty. It is not the propensity, nor the intrinsic nature of the human condition to be committed to that which seems not of personal benefit. It takes a larger view than that of self to walk in commitment to a cause or value that seems to be a constant conflict. Few are those who rise to any challenge that is outside their own personal interest. Our founders were men of great character. It is not that we sin, that has always been the case and thus we need Jesus to forgive us as we receive him personally as our Lord and Savior. The problem now is that we embrace sin as right and speak against the truth as though it is evil. That is the problem. Our founders were imperfect sinners in need of the Savior as we all are; however, they were men of extraordinary conviction and action. The left is constantly asserting the false notion that this nation was founded by committed secularists who wanted their to be no Christian influance in society at all.. I ask you...was this nation founded by atheists, Hindus, Muslims, or Buddhists? Of course not! The vast majority of people who founded this country including those who fraught in the American revolution were Christian. The prevailing world view at the time of the founding of this nation up until the radical 1960's was clearly Christian.
Do you remember those days when the leftists were sitting around with flowers and talking about "tolerance" and "love"? You know..."all we are saying in give peace a chance." Those same people are now running the leftist media and entertainment industries. They are anything but "tolerant." They hate Christians with a passion. The left will do anything, and say anything to stop any possible Christian influence on society. They lie, and tell half truths to try and discredit anyone who dares to speak the truth of God's word. When I say we need to go back to the founding principles of this nation I am met with ignorant comments by those who think I want to force people to go to church. The reason that the leftists come to that conclusion is because from their perspective, the way to bring about change is always through government. Since their world view is always more government, it stands to reason that they think I want to have the government impose on a person's right to choose their faith. Since I am a conservative I do not think as they do. My appeal is to the people, and I know that if the people of America come back to our founding world view, our nation will be saved from the increasing tyranny of big government, and leftist liberal establishment. The way of the left is always to impose through government power.
So what is the answer if there is to be any saving of this nation? The answer is found in the foundation we were birthed upon. If there is to be any stopping of this slope of moral and civil decay, we must return to our roots and once again call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to have mercy upon us. The church must again preach the Bible truth without fear of the culture, and we must gain control over the minds of our children as to stop the indoctrination of the leftist, godless, deceivers who seek not after God but rather desire to be their own gods. Political action is needed, but it is not the answer. The answer is Jesus Christ and His Holy Word.

I hate to be the one that provides the fly in the ointment, but we have all been bamboozled when it comes to the Constitution. The Constitution is neither Christian or Biblical (just compare the two documents), nor was it the capstone to the Declaration of Independence and the Revolutionary War, as so many have been led to believe. It was a geniously planned counter revolution. The victors, once again, wrote the history books they way they wanted the dumb sheep (particularly Christians) to perceive it.
The only evidence that Berman provided for his principle point was a questionable quotation from Madison - even David Barton admits that it cannot be documented from primary source documents. Take a look at the quotes of Madison that are documented and you will see that he believed quite the opposite.
The Constitution has become America's national idol and until we repent of our idolatry, there is no reason for us to expect that God is going to fulfill His half of 2 Chronicles 7:14.
No, it is not as the Bible goes, so goes the Constitution. It is instead as went the Constitution so went the Bible!
It is time to choose between the document that begins "We the people" and the one that begins "In the beginning God."
I'm presently preaching a series entitled "Bible Law vs. Constitutionalism." Anyone interested in listening to it, may email me at eweiland@scottsbluff.net.

Good job David, you and I are barking up the same tree, however I fear it is a hopeless cause. Why? Because America and the western world are too far gone. The result of capitalism is greed and the result of greed is self. There is no cure for self other than to be born again or death and they both come at the end of a rope. America does not realize it is at the end of it's rope and if you read Revelations, most people will never recognize the truth. The truth is that we are pathetically broken and that we and our way of life precariously hangs by a thread. Just look at our energy needs, our monetary system, our personnal and national debt, our morality, our relativism, our schools, our churches, etc, etc, and the conclusion is obvious- the leaves are off the trees and it is darn near winter. Friends, it will be a long cold winter- are true Christians getting prepared, are pastors preaching the truth? Click here to reply to this post

David,
Excellent and on target with your message. As an elder in an independent Christian church, I see the "what's in it for me" attitude a bunch. We are battling the liberal habits in our congregation and working to raise more mature Christians to battle it. It takes time, though. Thank you for writing this. God bless you and your family. God seems to have for the last 6 months or so burdened my heart with the downward course of events in America. This article hits the nail on the head. Great job in telling it like it is, avoiding the politically correct dogma of the left. It really is up to God's people to get right with Him so he can heal our land. We do need to change our priorities to God's!

The Bible teaches that Christians are to be the best citizens of their respective countries as they can be, as long as it doesn’t require compromise with Jesus Christ. This would include any contribution we could make politically, socially, or otherwise, to better society. There is everything right about standing up for constitutional rights. Yet we Christians must remember that our calling is NOT primarily or fundamentally a political calling. We are NOT called to reform the world. Indeed, we CANNOT. Most of us Christians in the United States today are not being persecuted for being devoted to Jesus Christ; but rather for the things we have come out AGAINST. What we are criticized for is our political agendas, our supposed, "message of hate," and our hypocrisy with money. And much of this criticism, while certainly inflated, is somewhat justified. The message of the New Testament is that our real enemy is NOT political. It is not flesh and blood. The real enemy is not only spiritual, but it is WITHIN. The Body of Christ is in bad shape spiritually, and until the Body of Christ gets it’s own house in order, there will be no real power against these things. That the United States of America was founded on Christian principles, and freedom of religion, is a fact. But the United States is not a theocracy. It is not the second coming of the nation of Israel. I believe God raised up the United States to be His vehicle for freedom of religion, and a place from where the gospel would go forth. But God never intended to use world governments as His primary witness. God is interested in His Body: those called out of the world to Jesus Christ. The Body of Christ is to be the witness of Jesus Christ. If we care about the world, then we need to get our own house in order and become known for our relationship with Christ, instead of becoming known for everything we are against. A living witness for Christ to the world doesn’t focus on changing the world for Christ. It focuses on changing itself so that the world will want to come to the same Christ we claim to serve. A witness unto Jesus Christ doesn’t simply go around demanding that everyone become a Christian, or try to shove Christ down everyone’s throat, or demand political rights to be Christians. A witness for Christ, because of a personal relationship with Christ, becomes someone who is evidence of the risen Christ. But I will be the first one to admit that it is much easier to carry around a banner then it is to carry a Cross. Will we ever learn? Click here to reply to this post
Your right, and not to forget, the Bible tells us the heart is evil, who should know it and it also says, men do not learn from history. doing the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome. Look at all the Impires that fell, ours will too as the Bible tells us Rome will lead in the end and will HE find faith on the earth ? Now we have the gospel throw out and now have the Rick Warren gospel, the other Jesus all lined up under the Catholic cult who say they worship the same god as the Muslims. the bible also tells us that the apostasy we see , unity, other Jesus, new age,and the world in the church, like the days of Noah, and Lot is here..the true church is leaving this old world too and we are counted worthy because of His blood.Hard to believe some well know preacher's are blinded by Satan himself and think they are setting up G-d's Kingdom, but my Bible tells me that His Kingdom is not of this world. Israel is the time peice, and G-d was talking to them till Act's two four..what G-d did once He is doing again. and scripture reveals scripture , not men. The old T is revealing the new T. The new T is concealed in the old, and G-d doesn't change, no shadow of turning. He made us (Hebrew trans.) in His shadow.but some are saying we are little gods. They take scripture out of context and so all they have is pretext. and when one doesn't have the whole truth, all it is is a lie..They have fallen for Satans lies. He gets them in their caring hearts for the poor and needy, and they have thrown out the gospel and the world is in the church along with Mystic occut practices..dont'they realize when they empty the mind to pray, demons come in. even the bible tells us about the man G-d cast out demons and he did not get in the word, so seven more came back with the first one. The power is in HIS gospel an not in unity as we are NOT to learn the ways of the heathen..Gen 12 is forever as Joel 3 and they did not replace Israel. In the book of Daniel..the Hebrew words in context..running to and fro..is where the Jews have their viel rmoved. and Like Isa says..when He stands on the Mt of Olive..he will bring up the dead , give them a new heart, every knee will bow and all Israel will be saved. they will own the OLIVE tree and Jesus is G-d and He is A JEW. HOw odd they love Him and hate the Jew even tho G-d warned not to be aragant.Punish yes, bring home to kill, NO. wake up people, look at Ezekiel 36-38 and see how G-d will destroy ALL the nations lifting the land and not suporting His first love, the Jews..all the preacher will get double punishment. read the word for yourself and ask the HS to teach you. He will as it is written. Click here to reply to this post
David, wow. I truly salute you, my friend... for saying what too many dare not. I have for some time now wondered - what is it finally going to take for us Christians to wake up AND get off our soft and comfortable posteriors? For example, how much more blatant dishonsety do our kids have to put up with in the classrooms, and how many more young lives have to be ruined in the process? My real question is, WHERE are the concerned parents of America... and when do they finally rise up to reclaim our educational system and their children's lives? And why are there not more Cristian teachers and administrators out there? Please forgive me for saying this, but so far I see us mostly oblivious and with our heads in the sand. Generally, I believe that we care... but do we care enough to sacrifice for them? As Christian parents, God gave us a truly noble task - to raise Godly children. But if we do not lead by example, why should we expect them or anyone else to follow? I seriously believe that a day of reconing is near. But that gaping question still remains... which side wins? In Him, scott. Click here to reply to this post

You said "Is there any wonder as to why we have fallen so far? Prayer has been removed from schools. The Bible has been removed from schools.>>
The problem isn't that prayer and the Bible were removed from schools. This was predicted by Rev. Robert Lewis Dabney back when state schools were first spreading through the South after the Civil War. The problem is the formation of state schools. The Bible gives the responsibility of educating children to parents. This responsibility does not belong to the state nor to the church. When parents homeschool, at least 90% of the time the values of the parent are passed to the children. In public school, this happens only 12% of the time.
