This Messianic Jewish Preacher Supports Israel!

This Messianic Jewish Preacher Supports Israel!
By Dr. David M. Berman
www.wakeupandsmellthetruth.com
Yes, for those of you who do not know, I am a Christian Jewish Minister. I have accepted the Messiah Yeshua because he is who he claimed to be. He is the Savior promised in the sacred Old Testament Scriptures. He saved me and I have served the Lord in ministry now for over 16 years.
There are some things that never change. Someone once said “If you forget history you are likely to repeat it.” It is amazing how true that statement is. We look at our own failure as a nation to remember our fight against the tyranny of the King of England, and we see the results. We are in decline concerning freedom as a direct result of turning away from the cry of the revolution “No king but Jesus”, to a humanistic cry of “No king but self”.
There is another disastrous failure concerning the remembrance of history when we think of Israel. The idea of an Israeli state is interesting to look at. Israel was an initiative to give the Jews a homeland of their own so they may govern themselves and live in peace. History tells us that the Jews have lived in anything but peace. Israel is surrounded by enemies that use the “Palestinian problem” to their own gain.  Israel is the perfect scapegoat for the failed policies of tyranny in the Muslim world. The oppressive regimes take every occasion to speak of the destruction of Israel. Even those like Egypt and Jordon who have a stated peace with the Jews only do so out of convenience. There are many elements of their population to whom the destruction of Israel would be their finest dream come true. The enemies of Israel have in recent years not only used weapons against them, but also have been skillful is using propaganda against them as well. The “Palestinians” have been portrayed as the victims of the “occupation” of Israel. They would have the world believe that Israel is occupying foreign land.
What does the truth of history really teach? The British had control of this region until the proclamation of independence on May 14, 1948. This all started with the first Zionist congress meeting in Basel, Switzerland in 1897. This organization was started by a Hungarian-born Austrian Jew named Theodor Herzl (1860-1904) who founded the World Zionist Organization and served as its first president. Why was there a move for an independent state by the Jews? That question must be answered on two levels. On the first level we realize that the Jewish people have been persecuted harshly for many years. Here are just a few examples;
1)   The mass expulsion of the Jews from Spain by Fernand II.
2)   On December 30, 1066, Joseph HaNagid, the Jewish leader in Spain was crucified by a mob of Arabs that advanced into the more densely populated Jewish area and massacred 5,000 more Jews.
3)   In 1465, Arab mobs in Fez (Morocco) slaughtered thousands of Jews, The killings inspired a wave of massacres throughout the country.
4)   Jews in India were persecuted in the name of Christianity during the Goa Inquisition from the year 1552
5)   Decrees ordering the destruction of synagogues were enacted in Egypt and Syria (1014, 1293-4, 1301-2), Iraq (854-859, 1344) and Yemen (1676).
6)   6 million Jews mercilessly tortured and slaughtered by the Nazis during the holocaust
There is no doubt in the minds of anyone who has even the most minor understanding of history, that the Jews have been treated horribly throughout times past. The problem is (as stated above) that when we forget the history of the persecution of Jewish people, we allow it to happen again. Anti Semitism is unfortunately alive and well in many places in the world.
The second reason there was a move for a Jewish state is a spiritual one. There is clear historical evidence that the Jews are tied to Israel from the days of the great prophet Moses. It was Abraham and his descendents through the line of the promised child Isaac who God promised the land of Israel to. History teaches that the Jews have the right to the land and more importantly God has said so! The prophetic words of Scripture teach that Israel would again be the place where Jews come to be as a nation. This is a fact of God’s will and so Theodor Herzl may have thought that he was leading this idea but in reality it was God’s plan that was coming to fruition. Those of you that are reading this and do not believe in the bible can kick and scream all you want, but God’s word has come to pass. The bible said this would occur, and no man can stop God’s will on this matter.
When Israel was again established officially in 1948 it was met with a massive attack by its Muslim enemies. The Arabs living amongst the Jews were encouraged to flee by the invading forces. They were promised that the victory would be swift and that they would be able to return to their homes after the Jews were “driven into the sea.”
It turns out that things did not go as planned. The Jews won and since then the “Palestinians” have been used by the Muslim world as a propaganda tool. This notion of the land belonging to the “Palestinians” is a trumped up presumption with no historical basis. The Arabs living amongst the Jews in 1948 were never referred to as the “Palestinians”. In fact they never referred to themselves by that title until 1967. This is a made up name in order to make the world think that they own Israel. They do not! The “Palestinians” have one goal and one goal only. That goal is the total destruction of the Jews. They will settle for no less than complete victory over Jewish rule of Israel. No matter what concessions are made by the Israeli government, it is and never will be enough for those who desire an end to the Jewish state. What the “Palestinians” want is what they call the “right of return”. When they left their homes and sided with the invading forces in 1948, they lost their homes. They now say that they want “right of return” meaning that they expect Israel to allow them to move back, with all their descendent families, to the places that their ancestors fled from. This would in effect destroy the Jewish state and they would accomplish their goal of having Israel under Muslim control. They always point to “right of return” and so negotiations are lost before they begin.
As a side note; there is a small minority of Palestinian Christians and they do not commit terrorist attacks. Let’s look at the historical truth about the Islamic “Palestinians”. They would not want you to be confused by the true facts. We hear of their horrible treatment by the Israelis, but who are their real enemies? The facts show the worst enemies of the “Palestinians” are in fact themselves. There is incontrovertible evidence that their previous terrorist leader Arafat was as crooked as can be. His name certainly suited his fat personal bank accounts. He stole millions of dollars of aid money. The terrorist also spoke out of both sides of his mouth on numerous occasions. The Oslo accords were signed on September 13th of 1993. This was supposed to lead to a two state solution. The Israelis made the foolish agreement with the terrorist and as many of us predicted Arafat was acting with his usual trickery. He would make grand proclamations of being a peace maker when speaking to the western world in English. At the same time when he spoke in Arabic he would speak his true heart to destroy Israel. The foolishness of Israel (under pressure from America) in trusting Arafat has come to haunt the Israelis. Arafat’s long stated goal was to get any concessions he could from Israel under the guise of wanting peace, and then use that toward his goal of driving the Jews to the sea. The real reason for the condition of the “Palestinians” is not due to Israel but rather due to the following;

1)   The miscalculation of the Arabs within Israel who fled during the massive attack by the enemies of the Jewish state.
2)   The intense corruption within the previous and present “Palestinian authority” that has lead to poverty.
3)   The continued desire to destroy Israel leading to war.
4)   The continued terrorist attacks on the innocent Jewish civilians.
5)   The incessant desire to hate and propagate that hate into their children.
6)   As we see with the recent Hamas insurrection, they have no problem killing each other for political gain.
7)   The Hamas charter states their goal clearly;
Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."
"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors”

If the “Palestinians” really wanted peace and showed themselves to desire to put away old aggressions, Israel would be able to trust them. This is not the case. It would be like asking America to trust Osama Bin-laden. Israel is the only Free State in the area. They are our tried and true allies. But more importantly we will lose more of the blessings of God if we turn our backs on them. The Scripture says;
“And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” - Genesis 12:2-3
We must not turn our backs of the Jewish people and the nation of Israel that God established and gave to the Jews. Those who believe in replacement theology are in grave error. God has said in his promise to Abraham that he will make a great nation (Israel) and that he will bless those that bless it, and curse those that curse it. The enemy Muslim nations that surround Israel are cursed by almighty God because of their hatred of the Jews. The book of Romans tells us;
“I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin” - Romans 11:1
No matter what we hear of the so called “peace process”, we must come to terms with reality. There is no peace process. There is only Israel making concessions and the “Palestinians” seeing it as weakness. We now approach to 60 years of Jewish Statehood and little has changed pertaining to the continued aggression by its Muslim neighbors. Some want to blame terrorism on our support for Israel. They want to flush Israel as a way to appease the Muslims. Appeasement has never worked with tyrannical forces. If we flush Israel we will be making a grave mistake for years the United States has supported Israel with financial aid and diplomatic encouragement. The American people have shown strong support for Israel, but due to the acceptance of continued false propaganda the support has eroded. I stand in support of Israel and know that as the Scripture teaches, God will bring many of my Jewish brethren to the understanding that Jesus Christ is the Savior of both the Jews and gentiles. Turning our backs on Israel will not stop the terrorists from their continued quest to spill blood for their false religion. Islam will never stop its incessant desire to convert by the sword. We can trust Israel to stand with us in the fight against Islamic terrorism. History teaches us that we can’t count on many others. This Messianic Jewish preacher supports Israel and hopes that his gentile Christian brethren will not turn their backs on the descendents of the Abrahamic covenant. Speaking of the Jewish people the Apostle Paul writes;
“For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:  Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy”
                                                                   - Romans 11:30-31
Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the Jewish (Old Testament) Scriptures, but it is not mentioned even once in the Quran. Mohammed never even set foot in Jerusalem. Muslims pray facing Mecca not Jerusalem. For 3300 years the Jews have had a presence in Israel. Please do not forget my gentile brethren that God would have you stand with the Jews. Take it from your Messianic Jewish brother, God is watching.

How can they be His people when they reject His Son?
Posted On: 11/14/07 12:01:25 PM Age 46, TX
Rev Berman, At one time I held your viewpoint, and even argued in the defense of Israel. I am not a Theologial or Historian, but I don't think we should judge Israel more than any other nation, nor do I think we should give them or our own government a pass when they do evil. Through Israel came the Messiah, but they rejected Him. Not so? God grafted those of us who are Gentiles into spititual Israel. The church is all true believes, in all nations. My loyalty is to God's people not the U.S., and not Israel. However in the secular realm the U.S. government can make agreements to defend allies from attack. If and when the U.S. or Israel do unrighteous acts we have a right to protest. I personally did not think the Iraq war was justified. It does not fit the "Just War" principle in my opinion. It seems to me, that those who say Jesus is the ONLY way to God are unjustly labeled with "Replacement Theology". How shall the nation of Israel enter relationship with GOD if they reject the "One mediatior between God and man." You are my brother if we are both in Christ, and I would defend you as such, but while I would like to the Jews come to salvation, I do not regard them as worthy of special treatment.

Thank you. I enjoy reading information from those who truly know and understand Israel. This is my comment straight from the word of God. Jeremiah 31:35 - "This is what the Lord says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar - the Lord Almighty is His name: Only if these decrees vanish from my sight, declares the Lord, will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be nation before me". And Again: Jeremiah 31:37 - "Only if the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of all they have done: declares the Lord. We all need to keep praying for Israel. Lyn

Rev. Berman, This is one of many Christian brothers and sisters who support Israel. Our prayers are for the peace of Jerusalem and for their eyes to be opened to the Messiah. Unfortunately, the US Government does not see the threat of Islam to its own nation. Islam will not stop with Israel. Just like during the Holocost, the Catholic Church turned its back on the Jewish people. It's sad but it isn't till it's on your doorstep will anyone do anything. Nancy

I, too, love the Jew, but it gives me concern to see growing tension and taking of sides in the church over where Christians stand in relation to "support" of Israel. Here's why: the Scriptures are clear that it is GOD who has turned people's hearts against Israel because of her own behavior toward her God (HE said repeatedly HE has made her a curse to all her see her and allowed her to be surrounded by her enemies). Anyone who has read the last chapters of the yet-to-be history of this world knows that Israel's future MUST get darker before she sees the light and embraces her Messiah. Paul also instructs us that we should not be making distinctions between Jew and Gentile, but are to focus on the "new man" - that we are both ONE body in Christ. That's not forgetting history; it's accepting God's truths. I know that highly-educated thinkers are calling for the church to stand up and "side with Israel" as she suffers God-allowed persecution, but it goes against every instruction in the New Testament about what our response to Israel should be. And what will the church do when Israel eventually signs her heavily prophesied "peace agreement" with her neighbors only to realize she has made a pact with God's arch-enemy?? I don't see anything in any prophetic books that calls us to side with Israel. Side with God? Yes.

Not All Correct

"The miscalculation of the Arabs within Israel who fled during the massive attack by the enemies of the Jewish state." This is a major problem with this statement. First for evidence of Christians ejected from their home prior to the 1948 war, read Elias Chacour's book "Blood Brothers". Second there is quite a bit of evidence that many palestinians was forced out at gun point during the conflict and did not leave voluntarily. Also I suggest Brother Andrew's book "Light Force" for a balanced view. I care about Israel, but any support needs to be based on truth. Many US Christians are denying or are ignorant of the crimes and oppression of our fellow believers and innocent palestinians. You would be shocked to know what our fellow believers in Gaza, the West Bank and even Lebanon think and what they experience.

Sir, I stand with you in your defense of God's chosen people. I pray that the Jews will remember the words of their God and take a stand for that land.

Great historical synopsis,thank you. I'm sick to death of the supersessionist attitude of so much of the "church" regarding Israel. Read Romans, folks. God is not done with Israel! In fact, read your Bible. It is one book written by the same God from cover to cover. Then let us consider obedience. "Inasmuch as ye have done unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done unto me." Matt.25:40 And where will He, Jesus be reigning from during the millenium? "...and so shall we ever be with the Lord." I Thess. 4:17 If we are in Christ, we are grafted into Israel. We had better give this picture some thought. Great article, thank you.

Reverend, It is my high honor to have you as my Brother in Christ. Ever since I have been saved I have had a heart for Israel and feel a strong spiritual bond with the Jewish people even though they have not YET accepted Jesus as the true Messiah. I personally do not understand how any Christian who is supposed to have the mind of Christ can not plainly see for themselves the deception of the "peace process" and a Palestinian state. My prayers and loyalty are with Israel, just as it is with the United States. Both countries often forget their godly heritage; yet the truth of the matter is that both Israel and America are in covenant relationships with God. God is faithful even when we are not. He promises that He has not and will not ever forsake Israel and the Jewish people - and I am grateful to Him for that. God Bless.

I absolutely agree with David Berman in what he says in this article. It is my prayer that all Christians read this article and understand the fact that God has placed His people in Israel. He is fulfilling prophecy in placing them in Israel. David Berman accurately describes the real reasons behind the conflict over Jerusalem. I beleive that we Christians need to be accountable to the Lord not only for our actions but for our thinking about Israel. They need our support outwardly, in a world that seems to be taking the Arab side of thinking.
