What a sad time it is in our nation. The beautiful lives of so many young people were taken in a senseless act of mass murder by a psychopath. It is telling of our culture to observe the reaction from the press and others. The press immediately went after the college insinuating that the college did something wrong.
The truth is that they may or may not have acted as well as they could have; however, we won’t know that until a full investigation takes place. Then of course the questions about the so called “warning signs” that should have been seen popped up. Then we hear all the so called experts making excuses for the evil man who did this. They started saying things like “maybe he had an organic reason to do this. Maybe he was depressed. Maybe he was treated badly by others.” We see a pattern right away of shifting blame to those who did not do the evil acts and compassion for the one who did. This is due to an alteration in our worldview as a nation. We can no longer call evil what it is.
The liberals do not believe in the concept of good and evil. It is always someone else’s fault or the environment a person is in. The simple truth is that evil exists and anyone who randomly shoots innocent people is evil. The history of man is filled with such wickedness. The philosophical position that somehow mankind is basically good is shattered when a serious examination of history is done.
The denial of mankind’s evil propensities creates the highest form of conceit. It is in this denial that men deceive themselves into blaming all others for their own evil actions. One must always contemplate his own sinful desires, and attempt to temper them with the knowledge of God. The Scripture teaches us that all are born into sin and that only through the sacrifice on the cross of Jesus Christ can we be reconciled unto God. The liberal view of mankind being basically good is a direct assault on the teaching of Jesus Christ and what the study of human history so clearly brings to light.
What does this all have to do with the title of this article? Why do I say that liberals have no shame? I say this because there is a pattern of using tragic situations by the left as leverage to promote their worldview and political intentions. There is no exception here. First it is excuses and society problems that caused the shooting coupled with blame of the college for not doing enough, and then the ultimate blame going to guns. On April 17 Chris Matthews (just one day after the tragic mass murder) said something that I found to be interesting on his show, “Hard Ball”. He spoke of when Bobby Kennedy was shot in the 60’s and said theses words, “Bobby Kennedy was killed by a hand gun.” He then continued the discussion with his guests about the need for more gun control. I must correct Mr. Matthews on his “Bobby Kennedy was killed by a hand gun” comment. He was not killed by a hand gun; He was killed by a murderer who used a hand gun.
Guns do not kill people anymore than a car kills people when a drunk driver causes the death of someone in a DUI case. Can you imagine someone saying, “so and so was killed by a Chevy?” No one would say that. They would say, “so and so was killed by a drunk driver”. That would be correct. Why is it that the anti-gun crowd always points to the gun as opposed to the person who uses it illegally? It is because they often have no idea how to use a gun themselves and more often they simply believe that the state can protect us better than we can. The bodies of the slain have not even all been identified and the liberals are already trying to leverage this tragedy for political gain and more gun laws. That is shameful!
Let’s look at the facts. It is illegal to murder someone. It was against school policy for anyone to carry a gun at Virginia Tech. The shooter apparently was not concerned with the law when he decided to commit murder. Do you think that another gun ban would have stopped him? The truth is that the police are not able to be in every place at every instance. What really angers the liberals is the fact that the only real way to have stopped this maniac was if one or more of the students or faculty were armed and able to defend themselves. The idea that a suicide/mass murderer can be stopped by a law is completely illogical. By definition a suicide/mass murderer is not interested in a law. Criminals will get a gun if they want no matter what the laws are. The only ones who will not have the guns are the law abiding citizens. The reality is that none of those who were murdered had a chance to defend themselves because they obeyed the rule of no fire arms on campus. As usual, the liberals depend on emotional reactions for the gain of their desired ideology and so they are using this tragic situation to push their agenda. Their agenda is always the same, more government power, more government control and more restriction on the original intent of the Constitution.
The Bill of Rights is put in place as an acknowledgement of the founding principles of individual rights and liberty. The second amendment is clear that the rights of individuals to bear arms are a deterrent to tyrannical government. The liberals always say that they are not trying to take away hunting rifles. The second amendment is not about hunting anymore than the first amendment is about nursery rhymes.
The first amendment is to protect political and religious speech. The second amendment gives the citizens the right to defend themselves from a tyrannical government’s usurpation of those rights. One must never put his trust in the government for his own safety, nor the safety of his family. It is not in the nature of government to regard its citizens as more important that itself. Government when limited by the original Constitution of the United States of America can be a blessing. However, without the principled citizenry taking responsibility for itself, all government leads to tyranny! The personality of centralized power is always the same, and true of all cultures. Central power always seeks to expand to the detriment of those it usurps authority over.
There can be no greater deterrent to the abuse of centralized power than an armed citizenry. Every person has certain rights that will always be attacked by tyrannical forces. Simply put; each person must learn how to defend himself, and have the arms necessary for resistance of totalitarianism!
It is the typical elitist mind set that says “we have body guards who are armed because we are important, but you little people do not need guns.” That mind set comes from the days when “royalty” ruled and the rest were peasants. That mind set is not American. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave. We stand or fall first on our dependence upon God almighty and secondly on the original intent of the Constitution’s acknowledgement of our God-given liberty. The right to bear arms shall not be infringed! Please do not let the typical emotional reaction sway your thinking or you will become a victim of the liberal agenda to restrict your rights. They are shameless and will use any tragedy as a political tool to further their socialist anti second amendment agenda. This is not a time for political opportunity. This is a time to heal and pray. May God comfort all those who lost loved ones by this evil act. Amen.

There is no doubt in my mind that the college shooter Cho Seung-Hui was an evil man, filled with sinful violent thought. But what made him dangerous was not his hatred alone. What made him dangerous was that he was a psychopath - armed with a gun.
I am a conservative evangelical Christian who recently moved to the US. I was deeply saddened by the tragedy at Virginia Tech. I know that evil is real! But I am also saddened to see how tragedies like this are used for political battles on EITHER side. This country is so bitterly divided that one seems incapable to admit that the other side could have suggested something right. The issue of stricter gun control to protect innocent American citizens should not be used for more political devision. It should be a matter of responsibility and common sense for all.
Dr. Bermans article seems much more politically motivated than he might admit. Yet it misses the point. Guns do kill! 33 slain bodies can testify to this. How many people could Cho have killed with a sling shot or a knife before being stopped? His evil nature allowed him to think up such a horrible act. But it was a set of hand guns that allowed him to carry it out and kill so many. His evil nature was one issue. His easy access to guns another.
You do not need to be a "liberal without shame trying to throw the US into tyranny" - as Dr. Berman titles those who think differently - to realize that America needs stricter gun laws if a psychopath who underwent counseling for his frightening violent nature is sold two guns with no questions asked. Politics aside! This country needs to prevent tragedies like this! The comparison of a psychopath killing with a gun and a drunk driver with a car is unpersuading. Few drunk drivers kill 33 people at a time. Cars are made for transportation. Guns are made as weapons. And weapons can kill fast, effectively and in high numbers.
Most people agree; while the US has the right to own atomic bombs, Iran must not. The US is a democracy. Iran a totalitarian regime expressing evil and hostility. Should one allow Iran to have nuclear bombs and destroy Israel, and then claim "Bombs dont kill, dictators do!"? Yes there is evil in the world. And nothing is worse than evil armed with the means to kill and to destroy. It is inconsistent to implement arms control in the world but oppose them in ones own country. The US Constitution was written in 1776, at a time when guns were used to hunt, to protect ones life, family, home and property and to prevent totalitarian governments. Today, while enjoying freedom, guns are used in thousands in street fights, gang wars, drug mafia, organized crime, domestic abuse, while becoming ever more powerful, faster and deadly. Not to mention numerous children being killed by a gun they found.
To call everyone asking for stricter gun control a shameless liberal is shortsighted and insulting, especially after a moment of tragedy. Some have true intentions to save lives and not see kids get shot and killed in schools and colleges. One could just as well claim: "The bodies have not been buried yet and people parade for more rights to wear guns. Maybe some people "have no shame" on either side?
I assume that no tragedy would persuade Americans to give up their right to bear arms, and I respect their constitutional rights. But there needs to be regulations and restrictions. The Constitution must not serve to allow every citizen his own atomic bomb to defend himself against the nuclear devise of his neighbor. This would not create a safer society but spiral into uncontrolled chaos and hierarchy and ultimate self-destruction in the name of freedom. Is it worth to arm every law-abiding citizen along with every potential criminal, gangster and psychopath and accept any kind of tragedy just to keep the unrestricted right to bear arms?
Rev. Dr. Bermans article was not written to comfort a nation in a time of grief. It rather reflected his personal strong apathy with his political opponent. But not by bringing more resentment and arming every citizen, but by furthering love and understanding and denying evil the means to kill and to destroy, can we make our societies a safer place.

The evil of Psychology is never more prevalent than in the justification of evil doers. There is no way this young man that killed 33 people and then in the ultimiate sign of his self centered heart killed himself, there is no way this man could be classified as anything but evil. A rapist is called so if he rapes, then why is a man not classified as evil when he does evil? Why? Because Psychology, the Religion of the World, says man is inately "good", in direct opposition to what God Himself says, that man is desperately wicked (read "evil") and there is no good thing in him...
It clearly is time Christians stop justifying Psychology and reject it utterly as the lie it is. Psychology is nothing but an attempt to remake God into what sinners can accept and worship without fear of judgement. Psychology is the worship of self, and NO Christian can say this is acceptable, or he is not a Christian.

IF it turned out - and as yet we don't have the requisite evidence one way or another - that Cho suffered from a severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia, would that change your perception of his culpability at all? I think it should (assuming that he did not voluntarily bring about his own schizophrenia, which seems like a reasonable assumption). Do you think there are any cases in which we should say that there are "mitigating factors" that diminish (or even remove entirely) moral responsibility? I don't see how you could deny that there are such cases. After all, it wouldn't be difficult at all to get YOU to do something horrible, by simply injecting you with a few chemicals. Do you agree? And do you agree that being so injected would diminish (perhaps entirely) your moral responsibility for "your" actions whilst under the influence of those chemicals? (Obvious conclusion: so what's the difference between that hypothetical case, and cases in which people suffer from debilitating mental illnesses?) Click here to reply to this post
