Southern Baptist Convention Continues Its Rapid Implosion

The SBC Snowball Of Compromise Quickly Rolls Downhill

The more the Lord leads me to turn over rocks within the Southern Baptist Convention the more ugly things scurry out from under them and then go slithering into His Light. So it’s becoming little wonder to me why the Southern Baptist Convention continues its rapid implosion when God leads His Apprising Ministries to items such as the ones that will follow.

First consider this from an article just about a year ago in the Baptist Press. This is the same Baptist Press, “Formed at the suggestion of state paper editors, and supported with Cooperative Program funds, Baptist Press (BP) has been the daily national news service of Southern Baptists since 1946” [2] which has also ignored my letter of warning concerning Ed Young, Jr. sharing his SBC pulpit once again with spiritual coward and purveyor of Word Faith heresies T.D. Jakes at next month’s C3 2007. [3]

This particular article tells us that Dr. Ed Stetzer who “serves as research team director and missiologist at the North American Mission Board,” [4] has said:

Much of SBC life is absent from the emerging church conversation. Let’s jump in... To be in this conversation, we need to think biblically and critically. [5]

Really, Dr. Stetzer? Then why do you personally recommend people who do not think Biblically such as Emergent theologian, futurist, teacher of so-called Quantum Spirituality and panentheist Leonard Sweet and “Christian” universalist and panentheist Spencer Burke and his Emergent Ooze under your Emerging category? [6]

By the way Leonard Sweet is also to be a featured speaker at the “5th Annual Conference for Pastors and Laymen ‘New Wine, New Wineskins’” February 5-7, 2007 [7] at George W. Truett Theological Seminary of the SBC Baylor University , “affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas,” [8] which itself is the more liberal of the two SBC Texas Conventions.

Are We No Longer Willing To Defend The Nature Of God?

This leads me to men like Dr. Al Mohler (yet to answer either of my letters) and Dr. Frank Page (barely answered my letter) who appear to me as if they couldn't care less about the doctrine of the Holy Trinity as Oneness Pentecostal T.D. Jakes is warmly welcomed once again into Fellowship Church (SBC). Yep, a man who denies Who God actually is going be brought in to teach the fools in attendance at C3 2007 how to grow God’s Church. Huh!?

Our next painfully pitiful exhibit on display following deceitful spirits and their doctrines of demons is the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (SBC) which is now into full blown contemplative mysticism. Then we have Dr. Tom Ascol [9] who tried (and failed) to introduce a resolution at the last SBC Annual Meeting that to be a member of an SBC church one needs to actually be born again. I will stand with a real man of God like Dr. Tom Ascol any day.

If I recall correctly I believe the new slogan adopted by the SBC at the Meeting might have been “Show Me The Money.” And finally here’s some more lovely information about a course in Spiritual Formation which was just wrapped up at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (SBC), Mill Valley Campus called “P1115 Spiritual Formation” with Dr. Faith Kim. [10] Note below that one of the textbooks was Celebration of Discipline by “Living Spiritual Teacher” Richard Foster who is himself a key mentor in the neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church.

Foster, a good friend of Emergent Guru Brian McLaren, also happens to be a Quaker who believes that within all men is an “Inner Light” which is allegedly Christ. O, very nice. Can’t you see what this means? If all men already have Christ (God) within them then there would be no need to be born again. C’mon, think now...I know you can do it; just which fallen archangel masquerading as an angel of light might have come up with this warped and toxic idea. A phrase I borrow from under-rabbi Rob Bell.

So I’m just sure that the Lord is absolutely overjoyed with the SBC’s bold stance for man-love right now while they themselves elevate shameless promoters of self like Emergent Erwin Raphael McManus. O how desperately the Southern Baptist Convention needs a few men with some spiritual guts to actually turn their back on the SBC idol of autonomy and then make a stand for Biblical truth. But alas, I’m afraid I must tell you there isn’t a Dr. Walter Martin (SBC) among them:
