The World After America: Coming Soon?

The World After America: Coming Soon?

Although I hold to a positive, postmillennial view of the future, I have become a short-term skeptic in regards to America’s near future. In the past, it seemed unthinkable to me that God could have a plan without America being the star player. After all, we are a “Christian nation” or at least we used to be. It didn’t even enter my mind that the world’s greatest Christian experiment could end in failure. Well, I’ve changed my mind and my thinking.

I pray for America. I lose sleep over America and I certainly love this country. It rips my heart out to see her die a slow but sure death. There are times when I just want to run, like move to Costa Rica or Belize. But, I’ve decided to face reality and fight for our nation.

How did I get to where I am today? What has changed my thinking and why am I so sure that I am right?

Let me share reasons with you, but first a caveat. I know that regardless of the events that unfold God is in control. I know it is never too late with God. So, it is possible that He may do something I can’t anticipate. At the same time, God’s Word is true and reliable. In His Word, God reveals certain spiritual principles (laws) that have held true over man’s entire history. Certain things trigger judgment.[1] When nations cross over God’s line, judgment occurs. I think we have already sinned enough to trigger that judgment.

The only Biblical precedent that may offer us hope is that God may put off judgment based on our national repentance, if that should occur in time. But even then God would only postpone judgment, not waive it. He never simply winks at sin. Cases in point: Nineveh when God postponed judgment after the city repented and in Josiah’s case when judgment was postponed until after his death.[2]

Unfortunately, many Christians just don’t believe in God’s judgment any more. He’s all mercy, love, and grace in their thinking. That’s convenient but not reality. I actually had a pastor friend of mine say this: “God will never judge us!” When asked why, his response was: “This is America!” It is frightening to me that a pastor can be so arrogant as to believe this. God didn’t spare Israel. He didn’t spare His Son. Judgment came just as He promised. He won’t spare America. Therefore, we need to think about our world after America.

My main reason for losing optimism is that I know that we deserve God’s judgment. Our continued slaughter of the unborn, embracing of homosexuality, addiction to pornography and drugs, and our abandonment of real justice are more than enough to trigger God’s wrath. It’s only because of His mercy, so far, that we still stand today.

Other reasons for my conclusions include the rapidly changing demographics, uncontrolled immigration, and a national disdain for God that continues to grow. We as a nation have done everything possible to remove God from the public square, the schools, sports functions, and even the shopping malls. Do we expect God to bless this? We have demonstrated a classic case of “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 Timothy 3:5).

Demographics may be one of God’s judgments. America as we have known it is fading away. There is no question about that and there is likely no stopping it. The combination of the immigration invasion and our low birth rate will create a new nation by 2050. At that time America will be about 50% Hispanic based on current trends and white Americans will for the first time be in the minority.

Our language is already under attack. Today, in certain parts of California, teachers are required to speak English and Spanish to be eligible for employment. Have you noticed that increasingly you have to choose a language now almost anytime you bank on line, use the ATM, or call a business?

The imported mores, religions, and lifestyles of America’s new citizens will change the social and political landscape forever and move us even further away from our Christian roots. If you factor in the frightening spread of Islam in America things look even worse. What if they become the majority? They are already taking over other nations.[3]

We are reminded from Scripture that one of the ways God punishes His people is to allow them to be invaded by foreign people.[4] Our immigration problem could again be His judgment already in motion.

Finally, my pessimism is exacerbated by the Church’s increasing anemia and monastic mentality. In general terms the Church has lost its ability to influence culture. America has a church on every corner but what are they doing to instill a biblical worldview and cultural change in their surrounding neighborhoods? I realize some do, but I’ve been at this for thirty years and I just don’t see it. Things are not getting better at this point. We are at war with opposing worldviews and we don’t seem to be engaged. Churches have become increasingly self-absorbed and withdrawn from cultural combat.

I’m not trying to depress anyone or say there is no hope. There is, but we have to do our part too. We have to lead by example. Christians divorce more than non-Christians. What does this say? Too many high level Christians are caught in heinous sins, as are many of the sheep. Addiction to pornography and drugs are not uncommon in the pews and pulpits. What does the world see when they look at us? What do we offer them besides a nice family life center?

My point is that we better quit waiting for the rapture, or sticking our heads in the sand, and get ready for the judgment because its coming if we don’t turn things around. Freedom doesn’t live in a vacuum. A price is always required. We must repent, pray, and do what the Gospel demands: Make disciples of the nations.[5]

This is what I think. What about you?

[1] Deuteronomy 28-29 gives specific blessings and curses that follow obedience or disobedience to God’s law. This hasn’t changed. If you prefer a New Testament Scripture, Galatians  6:7 is a summary of the same principle.

[2] II Kings 22:15-20; Book of Jonah, Chapter 3.

[3] For more documentation on the Islamic threat read Mark Styne’s America Alone.

[4] Deuteronomy 28: 32-36.

[5] Matthew 28:18-20 is an under interpreted verse. We limit it to personal evangelism but the command is to make disciples of the “nations.” This includes culture. The nations from top to bottom should worship the Lord Jesus Christ. We must teach them every thing that the Lord has commanded us, Old and New Testaments.

Ralph Barker, I am glad to read that you "hold to a positive, postmillennial view of the future." Far too many of the other writers on this website want to predict an imminent Rapture. I am glad that you mention the possibility that the United States may collapse long before Jesus returns. I wonder how the Rapture Gnostics will react if God punishes the USA while we all are still here.

I agree that this country is going to be judged, I don't know when yet though. I saw a vision of a nuclear bomb hitting one of our cities. It doesn't mean that it has to happen today or tomorrow, it might be awhile yet. I know when I read in the OT many of the prophecies didn't happen until many years later. A few still haven't happened yet but will. I am sure you know this already though but America will be judged one day. I am praying for revival here in America, along with others. I know that there is a conference happening in Miami called DownPour and we are hoping for it to trigger a revival for this nation from it. It is pretty sad when you have a christian station that allows foul language and Taking GOD'S NAME in vain in one of their channels and yet they don't bleep out the words, drop the so called family channel nor do they put other types of programs to substitute the programs that have this type of language. It has even shown shows that have witchcraft in it, mockery of GOD and it's ok because it is being shown on a christian station. Yes, one day we will be judged. GOD Bless, Candy

How about a positive viewpoint here, compared to the other posts? Revival comes on strong in America, and most of us are raptured, so that is why there is no direct mention of America in the Bible. The remaining naysayers are inconsequential. According to all the recent polling, the majority of Americans identify themselves as Christian. So when all hell breaks loose there will only be a small percentage of unbelievers left. Good I hope the bison, the wolves, etc. start to make a big comeback. :) PTLJ! Porter +++

Has Nostradamus risen from the dead and started posting on the World View Weekend site? You must really have hated that Penn and Teller episode (season 1) when they completely debunked the rapture, Nostradamus's predictions, Y2K and all the other end of the world gloom-and-doom stories! Not to mention nuclear winter survival camps that teach you how to make tents made of twigs... like that will help you to survive radiation! Am I worried that I'm saying evil things? Not really, I stopped believing in the Boogie Man when I was 4 ;). Cheers - From Singapore and http://rubenerdshow.com/blog/, Science-Boy Ruben Schade.

ScienceBoy, I did not see that Penn and Teller episode, but I would not hate it. As a Christian, I am glad when bad theology, fraud, and other sin in the Church is exposed, no matter if the exposure is done by fellow Christians (Jesus People USA exposing Mike Warnke and Lauren Stratford, JPUSA and World Magazine exposing Bob Larson, Hank Hanegraaf exposing a bunch of rogues, etc.); or by unbelievers (James Randi exposing Peter Popoff, a male prostitute exposing Ted Haggard). Just as G-d in ancient times used Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon to destroy what was left of Israel (Judah) after they refused to listen to His prophets; today G-d uses unbelievers to expose and bring down false ministries when the "wolves in sheep's clothing" ignore or try to hide from Christians who confront them.

I've read "Bold Love" by Dr.Allender/Longman... which I believe to be one of showing us how to behave as Jesus. Too many "sweet/syrupy" Christians behaving for their own agenda - Jesus said "get behind me, satan" -- America needs only to get back to the ABC's of our Belief, (believing in His Name - being Jesus to others - as He came not to condemn but to save) - Our high-tech culture of seemingly wanting to explain things has brought us to the verge of living by sight instead of faith. Your article was received with insight; I believe as you...Prayerfully, your own agenda is one to save and not condemn----There IS power, which is love, in God's Word and He is in control of America. If we will be Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible, to others, then we as a nation / individuals can get to God. Jesus is the ONLY way as He states. And that has not changed. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.... Someday - when we're Home, we'll understand it better ! Thanks for all your work ! This world IS NOT MY HOME and I don't want to behave as it is ---

Thanks so much for sharing your views. Your article speaks of a future which I, too, see may be coming but have not wanted to acknowledge for the country which I have adopted and love. Allow me to add that while a great number of immigrants are bringing non-Christian ways and ideas to America, it is also true that there are many immigrants who have come to the USA who love the Lord or who came to know the Lord after arriving in this "land of the free" and like you, are praying for America to repent of our sins at all levels. We also pray for God's mercy and protection for the people and the leaders of this nation which we love. Our greatest hope is in knowing that our Lord is sovereign, and our eternal future is secure only through what Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross.

What really sadden me is all the replies to this article, even more so than the article itself. I too love this country - USA, but my first and foremost love is of YHVH and His Son the Messiah, Yeshua, and the Holy Spirit. I am utterly amazed that so many posting feedback here, apparently have no clue as to what the prophets had to say about the end times and the Christ's return. Out side of the couple of non-belivers posting on here, do the rest of you not understand that America, has no mention in the prophecies of the end times. And do you not believe or understand that if America had an important role to play in the end time, that the prophets would have written about it?! And for those of you who claim to be 'Christians' but don't believe the Bible is to be taken literally, then you have bigger troubles that the corruptions and sins that are festering in this country and the world for that matter. Those of you who claim to believe the Bible is the literal and infallible word of YHVH & the Christ, why do you get so worked up and start wringing your hands. Don't get me wrong, I believe in pointing out evil and depravity when I see it, but you folks speak as if there is a chance that America can be saved, and that Christianity might become the dominate religion in the world. Please post the scriptures that support this theory of Christian domination before the 2nd Coming of the Christ, as I would truly love to see it! One poster even referred to America as the "Guiding Light", such blasphemy is just sickening, for don't you understand that YHVH and Yeshua are the "Guiding Light", not a country, man, nor church. If you place your trust, hopes and beliefs in anything other than the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are certian to be disappointed, and you are truly NOT a child of YHVH's nor have the Salvation of Yeshua. Again, don't get me wrong, I truly feel that we can't give up on teaching and witnessing to the world, including America, but I understand that at some point in time, the world and the Anti-Christ are going to take control of this world and lead armies against the Messianic Gentiles and the remanent of the Jews - the Messianic Jews, and that their prayers for deliverance is what will bring Yeshua back to kill and defeat the Anti-Christ and his armies, and begin the 1000 year reign of the King of Kings. So I don't get too upset about elections anymore, as I know YHVH is in charge and has foreseen all this, and it fits into His plan perfectly! Every Christian should vote and vote for those candidates who have Christian values and who are honorable, but should the righteous man/woman loose, and as this country as well as the rest of the world continues its decline into immorality and Godlessness, we must keep our feet firmly planted on the Truth and faithfulness of His Covenants and Word, for He will never let us down. Let us now see who has faith enough to stay the course and trust in the Lord, when the tempest begins to rage around us! Mark

I am one who agrees with your view. Many are confusing America's former glory with the Kingdom of God. This is not so. The times of the Gentiles are drawing to a close (luke 21:24); the natural olive branches will yet be grafted back into the tree ('For I do not want you...to be uninformed of this mystery...that a partial hardening has happened to Israel **until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;**'Rom 11:25) If one nation dominates the world at the end, it will be Israel with her Messianic King on the throne of David.

I am sad to say that I agree with virtually all your conclusions. It has been on my heart for quite some time for Christians to quit playing religion and get serious about actually living their faith. In other words, start looking at how often God commands obedience...and then ask how often we actually DO obey! Obedience to the commands of God would look like a completely different church, and a completely different country! What if we really loved and served our neighbors? What if we really let the husband lead his household? What if we really had families focused on holiness and reaching out to the lost in love? What if we focused on God's wisdom instead of "being educated" in the things of this world? What if.... Maybe there would be national revival and repentance. Maybe we as Christians would actually be prepared to endure the judgment to the glory of God. Who knows. But I DO know that if we encounter judgment with the church in the state it's in now...well...we're toast. Yes, I totally agree with this article . This nation and the church have turned their backs on God.As a nation we have given our children to satan , taken God's laws and threw them out the door, become child murders, drug addicts, prostitutes, allowed homosexuals in the church as pastors without repenting of their sin and turning from it. Sodom was judged because of this . What makes this nation think God will not do likewise with us.We have done much worse. Are we under His judgemenT? Yes, and more is coming, this is just the beginning.Read Jer. and you will see.

Why is it that as Christians you say your religion is full of love and inclusive and and then you turn around and say homosexuals are somehow sinning? Justifications from a dusty old book aside, how can you dismiss a popluation of people based on something they were born with? Yes, science has proved homosexuality isn't a disease, it is genetic and you're born with it. Just as if your skin is white you are born with it. I'm atheist purely because I see the way religions treat different people like animals and lower class citzens and it disgusts me. I thought the age where be based our genetic values went out with slavery and segregation. I'm not trying to be rude when I ask this, I'm genuinly curious, how do you justify this in your head? Rueben, I believe you are misinformed. Sin is sin. Whether you tell a lie or committ murder, they both are separation from God and need our confession of them and repentance. Also if you research a little more you will find that people are not born as homosexuals. God clearly says in His word that this is an abomination to Him. He hates sin but loves the sinner, wanting them to repent. I will be praying for you. God loves you!!!! Judy

Ruben, First of all let me agree with you on a few points. Yes, a TRUE Christian will be full of love Godly love for ALL fellow human beings. Yes, I agree with you that homosexuality is not a disease, but it certainly is not genetic either. Homosexuality is a lifestyle choice. And yes, homosexuals are sinning just like every other human being on the planet. The bible tells us that we ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God. Homosexuality is a sin just like lying, stealing, committing adultery, hatred (considered murder in Gods eyes), coveting, or blasphemy. We have all broken at least some of these commandments so that means we are ALL guilty. As far as religions treating people like lower class citizens, I have an answer for that: dont put your faith in men or religions, put your faith in God and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. You see, God displayed the ultimate love for us in that while we had rejected Him and broken His laws, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to take the penalty for our sin by dying on the cross. Ruben, He paid the fine that we could have never paid. And because He paid the fine, He is the only one who can make you this promise: If you will repent (turn away) from your sin and fully place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior AND Lord, He is faithful and just to forgive you and grant you eternal life in Heaven. If you have a bible, read the Gospel of John It fully explains who Jesus was and is, and the sacrifice that He made for you. Take care and remember that God loves you, I love you, and I will be praying for you. God Bless, Paul B. in NC www.one2one-evangelism.com

Thanks for the feedback! I guess I should have phrased my question differently, are you saying that you consider homosexuality itself a sin? From your definition we all sin, so my original statement about homosexuals being sinners would apply but not for the reason I intended. Thanks for not dismissing me as a left wing nutter, I'm learning a lot. Cheers - ScienceBoy Ruben Schade.

I am sorry my friend but where have you seen that science has proven homosexuality to be genetic? I have read far and wide on this subject and have only seen a couple of papers suggesting this, and they have not been received by the scientific community at large.

Pretty good article, but I think he also needed to enumerate the increasing public acceptance of ity. If God judged Sodom and Gommorrah, He will not spare any nation who endorses this past a certain point. God is merciful, but He is just.

Agreed. Tonight at dinner we discussed the judgement God will surely pour out on our land. The founders believed in Alimighty God (no, you may not know that if you are younger than 35 as the ps books are full of 'revisionist history') and acknowledged Him. God is mentioned in each document, honored by monuments and was sought in prayer by Washington, Jefferson, Adams, etc. and credited as the Sovereign that guides our country. America established by Divine Providence and, alas, destroyed by a brokenhearted Righteous God that can not wink/nod at sodomy/abortion/embezzlement and on an on. "If My people pray, and humble themselves and turn from their sin then I will hear their prayer and heal their land"
